Gdańsk is a port city on the Baltic coast of Poland. At the center of its Main Town, reconstructed after WWII, are the colorful facades of Long Market, now home to shops and restaurants. Nearby is Neptune Fountain, a 17th-century symbol of the city topped by a bronze statue of the sea god. Gdańsk is also a center for the world’s amber trade; boutiques throughout the city sell the ossified resin.

Gdansk is a lovely place to spend a day or two. It's very easy to get from the airport to the city centre in about 35 minutes via the train station right outside the airport. The old town has lots of colourful buildings and there are some nice churches there to visit such as the massive brick built St Marys Church (Bazylika Mariacka) which has a great view from the top. It's a very relaxed feeling city, it's great to just sit by the side of the river with a beer in one of the cafes watching all the boats sail past. And if you are in to military history there's a war museum there and you can take a short boat trip down to Westerplatte at the coast where the very first battle of WW2 took place in 1939 and see the ruins and monuments. When in Gdansk, don't forget to check out Sopot, easily accessible within 20 min by local train. It's a small coastal spa town with the longest wooden pier in Europe.

Sure can but be careful you get a ticket for the right train. Two different stations and two different trains - one local, one express. You risk an earbash and a fine if you get it wrong. Fully endorse that Gdansk is well worth a visit.

Yes, it is easy to get around by public transport and taxi, but definitely worth getting a hire car for a few quid to have flexibility and visit Gdynia and Sopot.

Can visit both those places very easily and cheaply by direct local train.

Well worth a visit here. Loads of war history if you're into that. Westerplatte is very interesting and the war museum can easily take you multiple hours to get through. Cheap in general and we found that between the 2 of us, Uber for taxis was great and so cheap

We can Gdansk if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
    'Cause your friends don't Gdansk
    And if they don't Gdansk
Well, they're no friends of mine

Went here for 3 nights a few years back on a similar deal, also found a £7 per night hostel which we booked every bed in the dorm, so ended up being a private room.
Great cheap long weekend holiday (edited)

All these Ryanair 'deals' are pretty much regular off-season prices. Nothing new, nothing special.
