Disney subscription price increase

Had an email from from Disney via the apple App Store to let me know about an upcoming change to the subscription.
The developer, Disney Electronic Content, Inc., is raising the price of this subscription from £7.99 per month to £10.99 per month. Your subscription will automatically renew for £10.99 per month starting on 15 December unless you cancel at least

An increase of almost 38% is a huge increase.

I’m on the current deal. £2 or something? Will probably cancel after Christmas.

50p ~ £1 will buy you the original DVD/Bluray movie from CEX and you get to keep it or trade it in! I'm not that fussed on their new content (for reasons I can't cite here as the comment would be deleted by the mods...)

Yeh I think there'll be a Vinyl-like "DVD/Blu ray" revolution in a couple of years, when people realise streaming is just money down the drain.

Well, time to abandon the ship when my current sub runs out.

I guess I will do what some people do.
Subscribe for 1 month, binge watch what I want, cancel.

Don't get me wrong, If I could subscribe for 1 user in 4k HDR for the normal price - I would do it, but now I can throw away money as it feels the same.

Obviously they are not making as much money as they thought from subs.

A large number are given away with Samsung devices and through other partners. I doubt many people pay the list price and if they do, then they are either clueless about it or don't care. (edited)

Disney via the apple App Store

Probably to cover the ~30% that Apple charges

Because they know the holidays are coming and modern parents want to sedate their kids by leaving them with the one eyed babysitter

I've got my one currently through OlduBil via Turkey that cost about £18 for the year but that likely won't renew due to the new rules surrounding that card so i'll have to decide next year. I definitely won't be paying full price for it though.

I've been doing a subscription share with family, pay for it annually and split 4 ways. Worked out to be similar money. But with the price increase and the crack down on password sharing we may be stopping that
