Is it necessary to buy apple branded charger for iphone?

Hi,
I just bought 13 pro max. Is it necessary to buy 20w apple charger. I am worried if any other charger impacts apple's battery life.

If I have to buy apple branded charger, shall it be 20w or 30w for 13 pro max? Any bad impact of 30w on iphone?

You might find the phone 'knows' it's not an apple charger and might not charge it as quickly.

Not necessary, but as KodaBear has mentioned I’d recommend getting a decent brand and look at the wattage for fast charge. I have an Anker and it charges quite quickly

No it doesn't have to be an Apple branded charger. Any charger will do. Just try to get a good quality one, and one that supports fast charging if that's a feature you want.

30W or even higher is fine. It just won't give additional benefit. Your phone will only take the maximum amount it is rated for. It won't push more power than it can handle and break it or anything.

I personally use a UGreen charger and have done for some time now. Anker is another well respected brand for chargers too.

The EU is trying to ban the design for proprietary PSUs and is currently (no pun intended!) trying to force Apple to stick with a standard USB-C charging port.
Apple does use a dedicated detection circuit to identify a genuine PSU and it will negotiate the fastest charge time with an official charger. However any charger & cable with do the job, albeit at a slower charge rate.

Side note for all, if you are looking for an older iPhone and I have the iPhone X 64gb. The screen doesn't register half the time, and the battery is the worst I've used to date, having an iPhone 3, 3G, 4, 5, 6, 8 and X. Looking to get a iPhone SE 2022 if I can get the scratch.

Is that not just age related wear to the battery/screen, or unofficial parts used for repairs perhaps?

I had the iPhone X a long time ago and had zero issues with the screen, and battery was on par with all other iPhone models.

If battery life is a concern, I would be hesitant to recommend you buy a SE. The SE2 and SE3 both have particularly small batteries, much smaller than any other models out there. Unless you're an especially light user you will likely struggle with the battery and may find it even worse than the X.

The iPhone 12 and 12 Mini are probably the sweet spot for what you can pick up pretty cheap these days. Even if buying from the refurb market as long as you get one with a half decent battery to start with it will easily outlast the SE's battery life. As well as having a nicer screen and cameras.
