Vacuum cleaner..... stick v upright?

Hi
I am in the market for a new cleaner and wondered if "stick" vacuum are any good compared to an upright.Currently own a Dyson upright but it's SOOO heavy and to be fair, ain't that impressed with the suck!
Any thoughts or recommendations? Budget under £250.

TIA

A cordless stick does the job faster than unwinding/winding cable on an upright, IME.

Stick vacuums are so much more convenient. I got a refurbished Dyson V11 for £250 a few years ago and it's still going strong. I change the filter every now and then with a Chinese knock off from Amazon for a fiver and it still feels like new.

Cordless stick, prefer Samsung over dyson.
Light, decent charge battery, quick cleaning.

Would agree - our Samsung one has been brilliant.

Vax stick vacuums are good, just keep the filters clean . Can get good refurbs from Vax eBay. If you don't mind a cord Shark lift away models with anti hair wrap are better than sticks. (edited)

they r bulky, I have lift away and not been used for ages. more like early deep clean cleaner.

we have a miele compact hoover, which is very powerful, but it is very heavy. i bought a cheap russel hob bagless one for my dad a few months ago, which is very light, and i was shocked at how good it was considering it was so light and so cheap compared to our expensive miele hoover
