RELAX, he didnt say it was a Hoover. The term hoover (small h) and vacuum are interchangeable for most people's understanding. In my mind the term hoover is as correct or valid as using aspirin or sellotape to describe those products.

Wear and tear is discretionary as determined by what was considered "fair" usage, and if the item fails during the guarantee (depending on type of usage, and excluding "consumable parts") it can be argued as "not fit for purpose". And considering a "customer call line representative" can not see or examine the item, "wear and tear under fair usage" can not obviously even be determined or argued!
My apologies, you are right about Consumer Rights Act replacing SOGA.

The law (sales of good act) also states it must be "fit for purpose". I have even had refunds / replacements outside of a guarantee (within a reasonable period) when arguing that point PLUS the threat of citizens advice or Ombudsman or small claims court. And the clincher can be that you will take it to the local press - no company wants bad press haha. Also, you do not have to deal with the manufacturer - your "contract" is between you and the company you purchased from. It's amazing how so few shop managers know the "sales of goods act", and just showing you know what you are talking about is often enough for them to back down. That all said - unless determined to fight on "principle" - I wouldn't go to those extremes for a relatively inexpensive item.

Sorry mate but your advice is wrong and often refers to legislation which is out of date.
The SOGa(s) has been replaced by the consumer rights act, under SOGa a supplier was allowed to deduct for wear and tear/fair usage when considering a refund as damages, so i imagine same applies under CRa

When I tried to claim on a Lidl guarantee, I took the item into store but was told I had to ring the customer service line to be given a code number which the manager would use on the till to give the refund. Ok......

But when I called the line, I was told I'd get a partial refund to take into account wear and tear on the item for the period before it broke. Strange. IIRC, I was offered £8 back for a £13 item. I even got a letter to that effect. YMMV.

anyone who can recommend a decent vaccum cleaner (for carpeted house) without breaking the bank...
had vax for past 2 years and its just an average machine.
Vacuums and cheap don't work for me for some reason and I'm sure I won't be the only one to have this problem.
Bought few makes in the past and they either loose suction over time or break. And cheap ones are not that easy to empty and constant cleaning of filters.
Got fed up and bought (over priced and over reviewed by some) Dyson. Amazing machine. From menuverability to ease of emptying and storing. And it still SUCKS very well.

Any good! I purchased one to Hoover the car out and it nearly sucked the fabric of the seats, sucks like the original 1200w Henry which you can no longer buy thanks to the EU.
We have owned this one for nearly a year and is still going strong..suction is surprisingly powerful and works just as well as the day we got it!

They all use the same motor but the DC58 and the one in this post has a small motorised head, ideal for rugs and small, flat areas. I think they may come with a small brush head also, which probably more useful for a car. The DC59 comes with the long pole and large head, which are no good for a car, but it comes with a small brush head also. That head is actually idea for a car.

Dyson refurbished. Comes with a charging docking station. Seems a decent price for this and in stock.
How can i not find this when I do my own search of all items sold by Dyson_Outlet?! So confused!
Mine has arrived today - registered online and defo a 1 year expiry. But - it's a little concerning just how much dust and dirt it has sucked up in the first 2 min whizz round the kitchen to test it - the floor was clearly more dirty than I thought - so far so good
Just received mine today. It’s a refurb and the main unit provided is the same as the purple v6 handheld trigger pro and then relevant attachments included in the box to make it into a v6 cord free. I believe the main unit in the v6 / DC59 range is the same. It’s only the attachments for the variations which are different.

Box clearly states refurbished unit and 1 year warranty however when registered on Dyson website, it gives me 2 years.

Very impressed so far. It’s replacing a 6 week old Vax U91-MA-BE which didn’t perform well on wooden floors.
