Drawing Tablet - Wacom?

I'm a little confused by the array of devices out there for 'drawing tablets', it's for a 12 yr old who loves her art. But I'd love something that can 'grow' with her love of creation.

I've heard of Wacom, but not being a techie not sure of which type to go for or try an entirely different option of some sort e.g. a dedicated tablet or laptop which could be just as good and also versatile for other uses...

I don't have a budget as yet as I'm open to ideas of perhaps ways of creating digital art but also using the device for other things - hence not listed a budget.

Thank you so much for thoughts and ideas!

Take a look at the app Procreate for iPad. It's what a lot of artists use nowadays instead of drawing tablets. The only cost is whichever iPad model you choose, Pencil(can use a cheap Chinese one at around £20), and a one off £10 for the app itself.

My husband got given a wacom for work when he asked for a webcam anyway, I looked it up and it is a cheap tablet dedicated to drawing but you draw on the tablet and the drawing appear on the pc rather than the tablet, which is why it is cheap. It is something people get used to apparently as when you watch the apprentice program, the graphic designers draw of the pad and the design appears on the screen

Not all Wacoms are cheap. Guy at work uses one and it was over a thousand

Wacom tablets are great for if she already has a laptop or PC. They work really well with the right software.

The cheaper solution is to scan in the art work and then manipulate on whatever app you choose...
