You contact your insurance company & give them the information

Just be careful informing your Insurance, you need to be able to prove it's him, you need dash cam/CCTV footage, knock on doors locally to see if anyone has captured it, otherwise if it's comes down to his word against yours, it isn't going to go anywhere (edited)

It will do when you tell the insurance company he was drunk

Duty of driver to stop, report accident and give information or documents.
I always thought it was a legal requirement to report an accident to the police if another car or property was damaged.
I've only skimmed it, but it appears that the bloke has (or will have) committed an offence if he does not provide his insurance details within 7 days.
You could always phone 101 to see what the deal is, and check to see if he's taxed, MOT'd (on Gov.UK) and insured (askMID although technically you're only allowed to check your own car)

Of course, if he takes the Shaggy defence it's all academic. You may just be better off paying for the damage and keeping your no claims, excess and resulting insurance renewal increase.

You can check other cars if it was involved in an accident and you have an interest, I forget the exact wording.

My friend had a drunk driver hit his parked bike.
They came out and nicked her, found out later she go a 2 year ban.

Genuine question....wouldn't making the claim about drink driving be a bad idea ?
The claimants insurance would be then invalid surely so the op would be in a worse position?

If anyone with proper insurance is drink driving & causes an accident normally the insurance company pays out for the damage or injuries caused by them but not for the damage of their own car or injuries.
