This is a great TV for people who do not want to game online (edit: clarified for competitive FPS). However the lag of 10+ms is a little on the long side. If only there was a way to bypass some of the internal circuitry for improved performance when in gaming mode.

I sometimes game on my 706/12 (most on my my LG CX though) and honestly it's absolutely fine for gaming. Complaining about a 10ms response time is absolutely splitting hairs over minute details.

I recently bought a G3, to replace my 2019 version of this tv. Sent it back because it was an underwhelming upgrade and I really missed ambilight. I got sucked in by specs and reviews but in reality it just wasn’t that much better to my eyes

    This is an absolute bargain

Great price but huge bummer no hue integration

    How not if its ambilight?

Why are the upper ambilight LEDs so low down? It's clear they wanted to keep the panel thin for the wow factor, but it looks like it will take away from the impact of the ambilight effect. Does anyone have this and can comment?

I have the 706/12 and the lights are in the exact same place. It makes zero difference.
If you're wall mounting though note it has no strip on the bottom; I believe that's for the 8 & 9 series only.
However mine is on a unit so the bottom strip would be redundant anyway. HTH.

If they offer this deal within the next month again I might bite, but otherwise if they just keep charging a ridiculous £1500 for it you may as well hold onto your wallet and wait for the new 2024 models (OLED+909 and OLED+959) which drop around June 2024 time, much better processors, speakers and dual lens Ambilight which sounds funky. Amazing price considering John Lewis sell this for £1500… heat added

No one is paying anywhere near that for this TV though are they?

The Sammy s90c is 950 after cashback for example or the lg c3 a similar amount - I believe either is the better TV, so 800 seems fair for this (edited)

dolby vision plus hdr10+ this is crazy. No idea why lg/sammy go on opposite sides here.

I think Samsung were behind the development of HDR 10+

I got the 65 inch from Argos same or similar model number. On a 100 day trial. Bought for £1500 plus some discounts. When trial was over, Philips offered £600 if I keep it instead of returning. So worked out to £750 ISH after discounts. Android TV is great for my use case. But as mentioned, can be laggy. The lights I use for some programs. Or off. Annoying from the side sometimes. Android TV apps are well worth it. Including VPNs. Remote app works from android phone. The satellite feed is horrendous. Can't even get BBC 1. The picture quality processor seems to work on that. Not on apps. For the price. Well worth it.

I'm hoping this means there'll be a deal on the 65" soon. 65" for £100 more would be nice.
    iby2012's avatar
I don't track the 65s but pretty sure the LG C3/2/1 its gonna ve closer to £1200-1400 then £900.

I have a Philips OLED TV. It's one year old and on its second replacement panel. Android TV is buggy and needs restarting at least once a week. The picture quality however is outrageously good.

John lewis way overpriced? A qn95c 75 inch a grand more than other places

Really great price - I have a very similar (might even be the same) OLD Philips and its awesome. Love the Ambilight. Its not just a gimmick

Too low down to place a sound bar in front, otherwise I would have bought and cancelled the C3 I have on order

Whats too low down? I'm thinking of cancelling my C3 also

Who makes the oled panel? Is it philips own? Having not owned a philips tv for 20 years, just wondering how the software compares to the more popular brands
    mango.carrot's avatar
    LG I believe

I have had the Philips OLED706 for two years, still looks amazing - can't complain. Xbox Series X looks amazing, all green ticks on features.

Only downside is the TV EPG is slow and clunky, if you still watch TV...
  24. ThermalRider's avatar
I've had the 55oled806 for over 2 years now and still in awe of the picture, the sound quality is very good too. Ambilight takes Philips to another level in comparison to competitors.

Mines just gone faulty. Off to currys for warranty. Theres a fault with the screen (not burn) hopefully get it back with new screen and no some stupid credit offer. This one has no sub woofer which is a shame
