4295209_1.jpgN.B. plug plants are tiny so will need 'potting on' & can't be potted outside immediately.
Video here: Potting up plug plants

Unpack your plants as soon as they arrive – even if you haven’t got time to plant them up straight away – they’ll need some air after being enclosed in their packaging.
Give them a drink! The plants may well be thirsty after their journey, so moisten the plugs of soil at the roots of the plants if they are dry.
Don’t worry if the plants look a little sad on arrival; they should perk up once you give them a drink.
When you’re ready, gently tweak each plug plant out of its packaging and plant each one into a 7-9cm pot, filled with a good quality, multi purpose compost. This is what is known as ‘potting on’.
Gently press the plug plant into the compost, adding more to top up the pot if necessary. Don’t fill the pot to the very top with the compost – you need to allow for watering.
Place your pots somewhere where they will stay fairly warm and get lots of light – a windowsill, or a table near a window is fine if you don’t have a greenhouse or conservatory.
Keep the compost moist, but try not to overwater.
Your plants will start to grow; getting bigger and stronger by the day.
Once your plants have developed more leaves and are looking more robust – usually in late April to mid May (depending on the weather/climate in your area) – you can toughen them up ready for planting out in the garden by popping them outdoors during the daytime and bringing them in at night. You should do this for 7 – 10 days prior to planting out. This is known as ‘hardening off’. It’s important to protect your growing plants from any possible spring frosts, so do keep an eye on the weather forecast!

After you’ve ‘hardened off’ your plants, they’re ready to be planted out into the garden where you can watch them continue to grow and flourish – just remember to water them!

NOTE: If your plants are destined for baskets or containers which can be easily moved indoors and out again, then you can plant your plants into their final containers a little earlier if they have made good growth. You can then harden them off as explained.

    don't buy them because they
    a. are so tiny it will be months before they mature
    b. will arrive with many fallen out of the little plugs
    c. clumped together as roots outgrown pot
    d. many will have rotten leaves
Van Meuwen wont care about your complaint.
I bought several last year and wasted time and effort not to mention money. so this year its proper size bedding plants from the market for me

Bought with Paypal so if they are awful I will snap a photo and begin a refund request and let Paypal chase it up. Worst case is that the seller gets the pain of Paypal chasing them up.

Youll be lucky if half of them survive to any size at all, thats after a lot of TLC. Next year youll realise its better and less hassle to buy them full size from a shop

And if it’s Evri doing the delivery then you’ll be lucky to get them at all.

Hi, sorry I’m new to gardening. I have ordered but can someone pls help what is the process to plant them? Do we plant them indoor first for few days and then can be moved to outdoor? I’m thinking ordering hanging basket for front door for them. Any help will be appreciated

I think you'll find these are going to be delivered some time around the end of April. They will be very young plants even then and will never tolerate cold weather. You could transplant them into a seed tray about 2.5cm apart. Keep them warm and watered.. Depending on where you live and keeping an eye on the weather, you could put them in your baskets beginning of June or whenever the risk of frosts have gone. If you have a greenhouse, put them out during the day and shelter them overnight. Hope this helps.

Thanks OP, worked but only on this particular 72 pack as stated in the description. Tried to order the 36 for 2.99 but it added delivery. Anyone know please how much space I’m going to need for 72 when fully grown? (edited)

Less than you think as some will probably fail to grow.

Each plant can grow up to:
    Height Up to 45cm (18in)
    Spread Up to 45cm (18in)

Remember they are owned by Thompson and Morgan, who don't have a good track record on deliveries, forefilling orders and customer services.

Thompson & Morgan is the UK's largest and most established D2C retailer of plants, seeds and other garden and horticultural products. Based in Ipswich and Paignton, the group owns several leading brands including Thompson & Morgan, Suttons, van Meuwen and Organic Garden Catalogue.

Just look out for the size of these.
I got similar last year and they arrived about the size of my little finger nail.
Took a lot of coaxing along in a garden frame and potting on twice before planting out.
They all did quite well in the end though once established.

Having potted mine on - well over half have now given up. Emailed and waiting for a reply!

I also potted mine and still have over 60 plants still (surprisingly) alive.

Ordered, thanks, pot them on when they arrive in to trays and about a month on most will survive and be fine to bed out saving a packet.

Ordered, thanks OP, these deals come around every so often. If half the plants take you're ten times better off than buyin mature plants.

Mine came today - a few obviously aren't going to do anything, but potted up all the others. So we shall see in a couple of months when ready to plant out!
    KamalinO's avatar
How did you pot them? How much space does each plant needs?
