Just as they announce ps5 is in the latter stage of its life cycle. Prices should keep dropping.
    garybb's avatar
Later stage, they haven't even released any good games yet.

Heat, however I'm waiting for the ps6 pro.

The way inflation is going £15 will be the cost of a 330ml can of coke in 15 years.

I bit the bullet today on my ps5 slim disc model from argos after realising I had a 10% voucher for them...377.99...brand new sealed...wondering if I should have held out for the ps5 pro and saved my voucher for that! Any thoughts guys?
    Hunterx878's avatar
Like many others have said, people can wait and wait and wait until they are blue in the face, and in the meantime, they have missed out on a good experience. And then by the time the PS5 Pro is out, they will be saying 'just wait for the PS6 guys'. I get the logic of waiting, but I don't see the logic in holding out for that long if it's something you really want and get enjoyment out of. Worst case scenario, you can return the PlayStation or sell it on, maybe for a profit or a small loss, but you've had fun in the meantime.

Thanks for this, will keep an eye on it. Do you think other shops will follow suit? Hoping for a price war to bring it down a bit.

I imagine this is the new price. You might find somewhere bundling a low tier game for a few quid but not a lower price for the console alone, IMO.
  7. PonJaul76's avatar
Is it really 1TB or about 800GB like the original ?
    IFRIT's avatar
Yes. The one upgrade over the phat model.

Remember TCB, Nectar Points and Airtime Rewards, so maybe another £15 off??

And 1% cashback by using a Chase card if you have one.

Does anyone think Currys will price match? Dreadful retailer I know but I've got a £100 gift card I need to burn...
    gallopingbanker's avatar
Of course they will price match Argos.

Why is there a sudden discount on ps5s?
    ChampEon's avatar
Someone was saying Sony have some sort of promotion on until the 25th Feb. Apparently they did this last year as well
  12. Rone's avatar
That deal was posted afterwards. Argos accidentally leaked a website banner the day prior before it went live. Alot of the ps5 deals went live after midnight

Can probably get this on eBay… for just the box.

Ugliest console they have ever produced and the way they announced 'the console has entered the latter stage of its life' yesterday was pretty jarring. A super unusual and disappointing gen all round yet Nintendo just pumping out games. Crazy

"latter stage of life" isn't a concern if they simply mean "second half", that points to another 3/4 years.

Good price, but will hold off until the Pro, inevitably, gets released in the next couple of years.

I've more than enough games on my Series X to keep me going until then.

Tempted to sell my phat version for this. Is it worth an extra £60ish? Guess so with a warranty, no coilwhine/quieter?
    boisterous_taco's avatar
This is my thinking, I'm wondering if I can be bothered with the faff of selling mine etc. But at the same time, I can get this for £395 (employee discount, Argos £5 off code, Chase), and sell mine for £360 or so on eBay (then fees, shipping, etc. etc.)

Slightly bigger SSD, fresh warranty, fresh controller, but do prefer the phat design slightly.

    Decisions, decisions...

Edit: also, I'm assuming the value of ours is going to drop today. (edited)

Contact them and they might give you a refund of the difference. And if not, buy another one and send it straight back to claim a refund on your first purchase.
