Also a 4K Blu ray player if that floats your boat.

Unfortunately, as with the PS5 there isn't codec support for Dolby Vision with physical media, if that also floats peeps boat.

Which One, is this one?. One gets confused when buying a one

Last gen, but the high-end version of it.

    I can’t imagine why you’d buy this over a Series S.

I picked up a One X recently to play older Xbox games. Playing on a 360 on modern TVs is pretty grim and the One X makes it a much more pleasant experience. Cant play old discs on a Series S.

We have an Xbox One X, Series S and Series X.

The One X is definitely closer to the SX in performance however it is deathly slow compared to the SS and SX, and that is with games mostly running on the One X from a USB3 external SSD (the fastest way to run games without internal modding - cuts loading times by 60-70%).

But even with this the SS plays/loads much faster / smoother.

I upgrade a One S to an Internal 1TB and it halved boot time & loading times (for most stuff), the One S is only Sata 2 (300), Not Sata 3 (600) like the One X too so that should perform even better as we're only getting approx half the ssd's possible speed. (edited)

Decent price, I have a Series X as my “main” console, but have my previous gen One X in the bedroom, I swapped out the HDD with an SDD and it’s still a capable machine. Certainly if people don’t have the budget for a Series S it’s worth a punt and has a physical disc drive which I still think is great, if you don’t have game pass and want to play older games.
    MrsPickleJuice's avatar
how do you do that? I have a One X and would like a SSD.

Currently playing Tomb Raider I-III on this. 4k 60fps. The Series S 'next gen' console can only manage 1080p 60fps!

Just save and buy series x, this is good for the occasional gamer though, just like the series S but unlike a series S, this has a disc drive
    iby2012's avatar
Would have said that last year. Now I would wait for the new one to come out and get either.

Putting a 1Tb drive in the One X isn't worth it. £130+60=190, halfway to the series x cost

People can make their own minds up as to the price on this deal, but as someone who bought a One X for the kids (ahem) about six months ago I think as a console it's great. Admittedly it was cheaper than this and I've swapped the HDD for a 1TB SSD, with some other tinkering to get it running more quietly, but it's snappy to use and generally works a treat. No issues at all. Turns on from sleep in a few seconds and most games we've played to date take 10-20secs to load, which feels quick enough (obviously not as fast as the Series consoles). We wanted a disk drive so that we (and they) could buy cheap games from CeX and local selling groups, and it has replaced our Blu-ray/DVD player as well as being good for apps such as Prime Video etc. Couldn't justify the price of a Series X so this was the next best option. Don't feel like we're missing out on anything from the current gen consoles, and the Series exclusive games could be played over the cloud anyway if that was needed. At this point I think we'll probably skip the Series consoles altogether and buy again next gen, whenever that is.

I don't think it's worth getting refurbished last gen machine for £60 less than a current gen Series S. Even though though it has 1Tb storage.

The One X outperforms the Series S. It actually is a 4k console. Series S is holding back a generation. (edited)

Stayed well away from MM since i bought one of these a few years back.

Came packaged with free pubes and crust on the controller, that was 'pristine' apparently.

    Nice machine though.
    The.Biff.Man's avatar
No. It was a limited edition. The Xbox Series Pube.

Some last gen games will play better on this than on Series S, Red Dead Redemption 2 for example.
    TheCostOfLies's avatar
Very few, probably not enough to justify having it instead of, but I guess for games which don't have FPS boost and don't have a next gen update, that may be the case.

I remember when people used ascending numerical naming. 1, 2, 3 etc. now it’s just bonkers and throwing in letters too.

I paid £130 for a series S for my wife about 5 months ago, this is terrible
    iby2012's avatar
One does 4k. One doesn't. Xbox team put a lot of work into making older games look better for the one x which moved onto the series x.

But it's a trade off from the 60fps boosts on new gen.

But yeah I got my Series S for £150, play new gen on that. And everything else on the One X.

Although my one x has a ssd in it. Wouldn't be worth buying and putting a ssd in now though. Get the series x for 4k. Wait for a better sale was £360 last year. (edited)

Dead console. Get a S Series or a Switch if money is tight.
    reckoning's avatar
My kids absolutely love their One S, what makes you think it's dead? There's hundreds and hundreds of games for people to play.

AAA game isn't what it used to be.

How on earth is this over 500 heat? some people surely confusing it with the series X and voting hot.
    HarryBobs's avatar
I reckon so, had me confused too as I know little about Xbox. Isn't this just a Xbox one with a bigger than standard hard disk? Sure my son's is only 500gigs. Xbox series X is the one he wants hence my interest lol
  19. julhad's avatar
Not much demand for these, I've got one I'm trying to sell for £90 on Facebook marketplace, no one interested.
  20. Funkyphil1971's avatar
These are not refurbished trust me. They simply test them to make sure the disk drive works, it connects to the net and the hard drive is clear of any accounts. Then a quick wipe over (if you lucky) and placed on sale as "refurbished".

Does it have a warranty? I would not buy an Xbox without warranty, I have one of these and it is the fifth xbox to die on me under normal conditions within a year.
    Chenty's avatar
Check your power installation. That is not normal

The controller being wired means it's not going to be an official Xbox controller doesn't it?
  23. Surjit_Singh1's avatar
I use the wired xbox one pad as a pc controller and it works fine..for some weird reason I still prefer the 360 controller

You could buy one of these and use it purely for emulation. A great little console for the 12 months it was relevant.
  27. lookitskris's avatar
got my old one of these in the office - grear for spinning up older games during work breaks, usually Skate 3
  28. doppo666's avatar
If it doesn’t come with some pubes in the disc tray from the last customer I’m out!

Can you still get Kodi in the Xbox’s App Store, as if you could these would be great media servers, let alone IP TV streamers.

oh, right, it’s a games machine…. For games..
