    These have very poor lighting so you can't see anything if there is no other light source.

    These aren’t great on the light and camera quality.

    Oh I managed to get at the video feed from a computer in python (I forgot the library) and added a time stamp.

    Having had my bowel fully examined in a hospital (whilst awake) besides the occasional slight pain (no anasthetic) the main problem with it was going round the bends for which the surgeon had to have an strong assistant to move me round, sometimes on my side, sometimes on my back, so I think this simple type would be ok for examining the rectum and seeing if there was anything in the very lowest part of the bowel joining the rectum. YMMV (edited)
