What's the difference between this and the cheaper £20-30 trimmers you can get? I've got a dewalt combi and impact so have the batteries for this just wondering if it's worth the extra money?

Tempting... Moved from a petrol to cheap electric last year and it won't ever go back. If my 30nquid worx one packed up I'd be all over this

My other half got me this, he said for my birthday!! Just excuse to buy another DeWalt to add to collection.(excited) Got to say it’s really very good. Much quieter than petrol strimmer, so easy to use.

Thanks op...ordered. Got to be better than messing about with a petrol one

very tempted but already have a john deere strimmer which is excellent

Great tool, use it all the time at work, 5ah lasts ages and its got monstrous power in mode three.

Love mine, just taken all the doors off to paint them and refit new handles and this made light work of it. Got a 5ah battery to go with the impact wrench I got for the car and its so easy.

This is the Going price. Just because its the cheapest its ever been on amazon doesn't make this a deal

Yup no brushes . It’s highest spec dewalt impact driver

Do you have to be naked to use it? But seriously though is it brushless?

They are an exclusive range made for screwfix. Moreover they are a sneaky way of selling a cheaper drill, with a very slight upgrade to the battery for the same price. Screwfix used to do the far better drill (I've no idea what the model numbers are) with two 2ah batteries for £150 which was regularly discounted to £100-120. This drill is barely good for hanging pictures!

As if Screwfix would sell fake products

They are real, it’s the new design of battery which makes them so compact (y)

I can't find 3.0ah dewalt batteries elsewhere but on screwfix. How can it be possible? Are they fake ones? Moreover they seem very flat for 3.0ah.

The impact driver is great for screwing, that's it's job. The hammer action will be fine for light work into masonry or block work.

Ar these good for skrewing and do they have good hammer action ?

Would bits harder if they were Parkside for £4.99.

Milwaukee for me best power tools I have had. Batteries last forever. I wouldn't touch Dewalt stuff these days.

The meagre 2Ah batteries make it a poor deal. The standard is 5Ah now

You don't need to be an expert to know that 7mm is by far the most commonly used masonary bit size, or that these are not very good!

After checking reviews on these on Google it looks like they are not the best of quality as owners saying that they snapped while drilling,

My original comment you quoted was flippant but nowhere did I say they were all crap. I stand by my remark that this drill was dreadful quality, and if it had been my first and only venture into battery power tools then I would have probably thought the same as sam_of_london, but I found something better that works for me. I'm glad you are happy with your ALDI tools. I've had many decent products from ALDI, this wasn't one of them unfortunately.

So you had a bad experience with one Aldi tool and instantly all are crap...

Certainly. £137.50 here But, FFX and others have it semi-regularly for the £130 mark. I ended up buying the green Easyimpact 12v because Wickes had it for about £48 at the time, but I've still got half an eye on upgrading to the blue/pro range.

Setbacks (lol) The earth is flat too

Forgot to say - Looks like a very good deal.

My tool technician tells me that brushless is not as great as it sounds. When something has bushes they are like carbon contacts that surround the motor. If they wear out they are easy and cheap to replace. If something is brushless the whole motor/ component needs replacing and that is very expensive. In may case I was looking at a brushless nail gun and he told me to avoid. Don't know if anyone has any experience.

Could someone explain what brushless means?

I desided to buy because the day before I had to walk up four floors with my transformer, extension and drill for 2 plugs. Never again.

Dewalt cordless angle grinder bare unit - £89.99 @ UK Planet Tools

Another great deal from uk power tools keep adding to my collection i know not brushless but i don’t use a grinder that often so works for me

Just had notification mine will be delivered tomorrow now have to find something to cut

Cheers op might get this...just because :)

I've got the first fix brushless nailer but now looking at the second fix just because I have a space going spare in my dewalt box some people do drugs I spend my spare cash on tools as I'm looking to self-employed soon and want to be geared up from the off

Quite fancied the nail guns but they are pretty pricey and I think overkill for knocking together pallet wood planters and such like which I use my other Dewalt kit for. I need the nailer, plane, SDS drill and angle grinder for my complete set. Currently have circular saw, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, multi tool, drill driver and impact driver. Used every one of them in my projects and they are mint. Once my collection is complete I’ll probably pick up the garden tools if I can get them at a decent price.

you sound just like me I've got nail guns ,planer ,sds drill, impact driver ,jigsaw all dewalt all cordless but I'm supplied a complete set of cordless Makita and dewalt for work just need the grinder to complete my own personal set and oh by the way dewalt is better than Makita end of

Thanks, I was initially thinking of a circular saw.

Do they even do a sliding saw that would cut 600mm? Imagine trying to carry that about. As previously mentioned for the perfect finish get a router. Or you can get a very good finish with a circular saw or a hand saw.

No, it can only cut a maximum of 25cm width, worktops tend to be 60cm. This will do skirting boards nicely. You want a router or a circular saw

Hi, is this the type of saw I'd need for cutting kitchen end panels and worktops to get a nice clean cut finish please?

Bought for this much last time it was on offer. It has its limitations, the thickest timber I managed to cut was 3" and it was a tight fit. Also the Notre function is one side. However all that said, it's half the price of the other one so HEAT HEAT HEAT

It was not "mispricing". It was planned action with intention to get customers.

While that's true, Dewalt bought out Elu powertools, so Dewalt powertools were basically rebranded Elu powertools. So much time has passed since then and the tools are constantly being updated, they're just Dewalt products now. I have owned Dewalt tools for the past 10 or more years and can only say they have improved in that time. The old post type nicad/nimh batteries aren't a patch on the new LI-ion batteries and the tools themselves have only improved with innovative features over time. One change I have seen in recent years is the introduction of a lower end line of tools, but this is the same with Makita, Bosch and lot of other pro tool companies. A £75 drill can't be expected to perform the same as their higher end £300 industrial rated model. I think a lot of people buy the cheaper tools and expect them to handle more than they're rated for, then complain that the company has gone downhill when it fails.

Hopefully it's a case of "CONGRATULATIONS!" by now. I have Dewalt drills and drivers that I rate highly, but I'm also a big FATMAX fan - really good stuff that often gets reduced.

All the best (y)

Or learn to use the trigger properly ;)

I splashed out on one of these afer having loads of B&D and Bosch stuff. The difference is amazing. You only need one battery unless you are going to be using it all day long so perfect for DIY. Only down side is it is too powerful to be used as a driver for most smaller screws unless you want to keep faffing on with Torq settings so maybe get a separate driver as well

Cordless ones are now the choice of thieves. Caught some on cctv cutting bikes from locks in busy apartment buildings

Need one of these just for protection against moped thieves. Ill saw right through their helmet if they try rob me

DeWalt DCS380n xr 18v reciprocating saw (body only) £100 @ Powertoolmate
Found 14th AugFound 14th Aug
As title. Cheapest I could find it by at least £11.50. Free delivery Reviews here Think the same supplier has the 5 AmpHr battery for £53 too

Fyi, there are 2 on Amazon for less than £88 if anyone wants them. Gutted! They were 150 the other day

I have this - bought it a couple of weeks ago as part of my current fad (although to be fair I have used every one of the tools several times now). The reciprocating saw is brilliant (and like most powertools, dangerous if you don't use it properly). It's very powerful, and you could easily break your wrist if it binds so be very careful. You might also find yourself with tingling in your hands after using it on full whack (excited) As mentioned above, it's a battery killer - I have the 5ah batteries and it still eats those when doing anything intensive (recent example, cutting through some inch-thick ivy roots and also hacking a 3-4" tree stump to bits). It's a very versatile tool - so far I've used it to; * Cut up pallets for pallet-projects (with a wood/metal blade, it cuts through nails in pallets like a knife through butter) * Cut down a small tree (2-3" thick trunk) * Hacking various things in the garden * Breaking down an old broom handle so it would fit in the bin (my least exciting use but the one which led to my warning about binding above - almost pulled my arm off cutting that pole down). It seems that reciprocating saws use a standard blade (or at least DeWalt use a standard blade which is shared across many manufacturers) so you'd be hard-pressed to get the wrong blades. The bare units do not come with any blades so get yourself a multi-purpose pack off Amazon for about £12 - this will see you right for tackling most jobs. I've used the metal/wood and the wood blades for various tasks and they are very good for the price.

No blades, I'm afraid, just the bare tool. Pretty much any reciprocating saw blade will fit as they have a universal fitting. I personally tend to stick with Bosch blades as they nearly always do the job without fail. One of the great features of this saw, by the way, is you can can put the blade in four different angles - very useful if you need to work in awkward spaces.

Good to know, thanks. Do you know if it comes with any blades, and what size blades it takes? I've never had one of these reciprocating saws before

Got Powertool World to pricematch this a week or so ago. It's a very powerful saw that will cut through pretty much anything with the right blades. As has already been said it will eat through batteries quickly - and you really need some good anti-vibration gloves if you don't want your teeth shaken loose.
