And much less powerful at only 42nm of torque. Which might be fine for most people, but it's relevant when comparing the two

No there is no rubber. It's the bolt that is in the middle of the wheel. It is a massive bolt once you take it out... it is 200nm+ 180° this is not possible with just one breaker bar you need a long extension to finish it off. You just pray that the set up wont brake before you are done...

ItsFrazer

It will break regardless anyway. Go with the hog ring version if it's the same in ithr aspects

Yer from the reflection from below as the mirror still won't be hung

Perhaps, cigarettes are unfashionable these days...

Superman_turbo_pro_3000

Don't buy this hoping for a high quality thermos flask. The lid design is the simple piece of plastic that just slides over the opening hole. Fine for keeping heat in, but you couldn't put this in a bag with drink in it. DeWalt do make the best drill bits though.

Proveright

What an odd combination? Perhaps someone at Tool station thinks you need a hot drink after some screwing? :D

Ben2402

Horrible box set for getting the bits in and out of the slots unfortunately. Honestly I'd say it's the worst of any kit I've bought.

Or if you really want to push the boat out and go for a twin pack with a DCD795, 3 x 3Ah batteries, and an DCF887 impact wrench with a monsterous 205Nm of torque, that will quite literally hammer a coach screw into anything... they are currently back in stock and 'on offer' at Screwfix here: https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dck2510l3t-gb-18v-3-0ah-li-ion-xr-brushless-cordless-twin-pack/682fk#product_additional_details_container Personally, I'd still go for a twin pack with the 796 as I actually think it's the best combi DeWalt have ever made - it's the right combination of size, weight, robustness and power. Sure the 996 is 'better' at piling into masonry, but then I'd use an SDS.

oddjob

Yes,the 796 is the better drill.Waynebruce's comments above, also states the 796 is the better drill. I would personally go for this drill (wait for the battery and charger deals,or if you wanna buy another Dewalt tool cheap, with battery and charger),seeing as it has all the power you need and just in case you buy the wrong drill that doesn't do the job properly.

aKennethJnr

Is this the 796 you are referring to? https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dewalt-dcd796m2-gb-18v-li-ion-brushless-combi-drill-2-x-40ah-16998-with-code-at-toolstation-3491320

cannotthinkofone

796 is the better of the two, but you are now jumping up to another level. You have to decide what level of power you need or just go the whole hog and choose the 996 as that is a beast of a tool.

oddjob

Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention,I'm after a cordless hedge trimmer too.I think the 4Ah would be better for me,as I need the bigger battery for the Dewalt hedge trimmer.

Hey @lwahc great first deal! Well done (y) Thanks for posting!

s87

I've got the 796 mates got this deal the drills are similar 796 is a bit more powerful and slightly larger but is classed as a pro DIY pretty much only second to the 996 drill There's a 50quid difference between the two packages and to be honest the average DIYer this deal is plenty. 4ah batteries also make the tool a lot larger to deal with so it's down to preference and also 50 pound difference can be make or break for someone's budget

Ruslan_Boiko

Who knows is this deal with code not good enough? For 169£more powerful drill plus 2 4 amp batteries? Any advise? https://www.toolstation.com/dewalt-dcd796m2-gb-18v-li-ion-brushless-combi-drill/p89165

Have some heat. Excellent deal and bagged a kit today.

s87

Mate this is plenty for home diy. 996 and 887 are top of the range As home diy these are very practical, compact in size which is very handy at home. The batteries will last u ages. These I would say are top int eh compact range I have a 796 and 787 and they're both perfect for home I do a LOT of home diy and you'll find the 996 is overkill for most ppl at home. I certainly don't need it

Ben_Jamin

Spot on, it's basically the UK version of the atomic set but the drill has metal chuck as you say and hammer function, both which the US miss out on. Fwiw I do property maintenance and bought this set today as small light set for my regular tool kit in the car. If I need to be putting 16mm holes in concrete I'll use my sds, something I would still do even with a 996.

Gamebear88

I bought this kit last time it was on offer at £189.99, so even better now. The combi has a metal chuck, at least mine does. I found when looking online for reviews etc it's more commonly referred to in the US market as DeWalt Atomic, and having a plastic chuck Vs metal in the UK. This set is apparently DeWalts top end for their "compact" range. Smaller/lighter body in lieu of a reduction in RPM on both combi and impact. For DIY I've found this set to be great, at least for my uses anyway. Couldn't be happier. Never missed a beat, and I've never been left wanting more. As with all drills at all budget ranges, buy a decent bits!

AlanGordonisgod

What’s the difference between the above the kit?

Not necessarily. Could be short screws, or soft wood, or both, or someone who knows how hard to pull the trigger. Bad technique accounts for most breakages in my experience.

cornishjones

I have to agree with this. I prefer these dealt bits in my impact. The dewalts tend not to round but will crack and I find most of the time it is user error, for example I pull the trigger before setting the bit in the screw head correctly. I rather have a bit that cracks over rounds because you'll start using a rounded bit that'll start rounding your screws. That my 2 cents

Yarodia

I've got this and it's good for workshop and DIY, very sharp drill bits. Definitely wasn't £79, can't find the receipt but I'm pretty sure it was £28-£30 or so. Be aware that the majority of the 100 bits are the two boxes of mostly identical driver bits.
