This book doesn't go as far as more complex stats, like ANOVA, MANOVA and the like. It's aimed at people who are interested, possibly studying A level stats or psychology, or even undergraduates in their first year. In my first year I did roughly the same stuff as his book.

Bell curve is the one thing I remember from statistics at school, 1 Vs 2 Vs 3 standard deviations

Statistics are a waste of time, and at least 38% of all people know that. And, they can be used to prove anything, with only 24% disagreeing.

Theobold's books a quite accessible, so this should be a good intro for a basic grounding. If you want/need more depth for data analysis, I recommend Jim Frosts' books.

I remember my first lab report as clear as day. My tutor corrected in red the phrase "this data", indicating to me that data are plural, and thus "these data". It has stayed with me, to the point of where I am often annoyed with journos who refer to "the data". A datum is useless, lots of data are interesting. Good luck with your final submission.

If it ain’t Bayesian then it ain’t worth knowing, or at least that’s what the guys pedalling Gaussian Processes keep saying to me at work…

It's all very well, just so long as the user has sufficient computing power. We'll see in the longish term. Meanwhile, we do have more powerful computing devices, even at home, and (like the devil) demand will drive innovation.

Just to preempt the comments about the front cover let me be the first to say "fails to reject"

I'm waiting for a book on probability. But saying that, I'm not certain I'll get it.

I've heard that books on probability are like buses. You wait for ages, and 5 will turn up all at once!

I don't have a Kindle account, and downloaded it no problem, so my experience is that you don't need one.
