3 year warranty

Factory specials - this batch are brand new, in perfect condition with a 3 year warranty, supplied in obsolete packaging, limited stock available.

This 1/2" router has been specifically designed for both freehand use and for mounting in a router table. The router features a micro-fine height adjuster handle which allows you to adjust and precision set the cutter height with ease, when upright or inverted in a table. It is also excellent for fine height adjustment when working with dovetail jigs. One full revolution of the micro-fine adjuster handle raises or lowers the cutter height by 1mm and three position turret depth stop allows for precise repetitive routing depths.

The powerful 2200 watt motor features variable speed control from 9000 to 22000rpm and has constant speed under load ensuring a fine finish to the workpiece on hardwoods, softwoods and composite woods. The motor has in built soft start on the slowest speed to eliminate sudden movement of the router on start up. A spindle lock combined with a hex collet nut results in fast and easy bit changes.

The base of the router is fitted with a phenolic glide plate measuring 160mm in diameter which ensures excellent stability and smooth passage in free hand mode and features a wide 65mm aperture for accepting large cutters when in table mode. The phenolic plate can be removed from the base to reveal locating holes for mounting to a router table insert plate. Industry standard guide bushes are accommodated for via two easy to access set screws. The all steel side fence also features an adjustment knob that allows for micro-adjustment to set the routing width.

Weighing 5.8kg the router has two large ergonomic handles combined with a conveniently positioned on/off switch which make this a very comfortable router to operate. The router is supplied with a 35mm diameter dust port, 1/2" collet, 3/8" and 1/4" collet sleeves, collet spanner, adjustable steel side fence, 16mm guide bush, 12.7mm TCT router bit, clear bit guard and a bearing edge guide. This is a powerful 1/2" collet router designed for both freehand and table use that has the advantage of a micro-fine height adjuster which ensures fast and precise routing. Highly recommended

Does anyone rate this router? I can't find any independant reviews online.

The reviews on rutlands site are genuine. It's not like sites like Amazon that use reviews for other products and apply them to the thing you're looking at. They also have 30 day returns policy if you inspect it and find it's not good enough quality / fit for purpose

not bad for a half inch!

in a nutshell it'll cut kitchen worktops
most cheap ones are 1/4 inch, that wont.

Or what really sets it apart is the fine tune adjustment builtin, like the trend routers that make it easy to change the height in a router table - saving money on expensive aftermarket height raisers

Can anyone please recommend some reasonably priced bits for a beginner? :-D (edited)

Does anyone know if this would be good for a router table?

The description mentions using in a table :
"The base of the router is fitted with a phenolic glide plate measuring 160mm in diameter which ensures excellent stability and smooth passage in free hand mode and features a wide 65mm aperture for accepting large cutters when in table mode. The phenolic plate can be removed from the base to reveal locating holes for mounting to a router table insert plate. "

There's a review on the website too:
    "Nigel S on
Great service from Rutland's delivered on the day promised.Excellent product for 100. I am only going to use it with a table so can't comment on all the attachments for hand use. It is worth taking your time setting up because once installed properly it is an excellent piece of kit. The height adjustment is perfect, make sure you position the router on the table so as to get easy access to the adjusting knob. To align the centre of the router spindle with the centre hole of the table insert I turned in wood a stepped insert to fit in the centre hole of the table insert and the centre hole of the routers plastic base which you have to remove anyway. Position the router plastic base on the table insert plate aligning using the turned insert, make sure it is the preferred orientation then use the fixing holes on the plastic base as a template to mark the hole on the table insert. Drill and counter sink the holes and fix the router to the insert plate. Perfect for use with a table" (edited)

Maybe a silly question, but what's the difference between 1/2" and 1/4"? As I understand it's the thickness of the hole where bits go in? But why there is two main sizes? What's the pros or cons of having either of them? And is it easy enough to use. I.E. route straight lines or make accurate holes or something? Or you need other attachments, like router table for that kind of works and with free hand mode it's just for rounding the edges, etc? Sorry never had this tool before and just trying make informed decision.

One of the biggest differences is that 1/2" bits don't create as much vibration or chatter as 1/4" bits because the router is more powerful so you get cleaner results, and with a more powerful router there is a whole range of bits you can use e.g. panel raisers, profile scribers, halfrounds, multiprofile etc. which is off limits with a 1/4".

I got the drill press that was on sale. It comes Monday, so hope it's decent. Trying to drill many 45mm holes in end-grain Oak with a Fisch sawtooth bit which my current drill is struggling to cope with

Well worth watching some youtube videos if you haven't used a router before- don't skimp on the safety bits. Like any spinny thing they can cause a lot of damage if you're not careful. They are however very useful in woodworking.

For some reason when I saw the picture, I thought about the sculpture "Angel of the City" by Marino Marini. I'm clearly losing it

I had no idea what this item was but then again I had no idea what the "Angel of the city" was either.

Feel free to add more cultural references to HUKD for me to Google!

Annoying that you can't use their £10 off code for this deal. Signed up for their newsletter and it's a generic 'SAVE10' at checkout

How can I justify buying this to replace my rarely used parkside 1/4"?

Also wondering the same for my never used Ferrex router 🫣

Good timing (or bad, depending on view!)

My Titan cheapie has just just been skipped. The height-adjusted lock rounded the cheesium metal screw (the plastic lock long since broke) - and the collet refused to keep a 1/4" bit in place ruining some work.

Been getting away with my 1/4" palm router - just - but would not touch titan or any cheap versions any more and my good go to brands are ££££££ which is too much for my 2 DIY jobs a year....

    Never heard of Rutland tools?

Anyone any first hand experience of this? Depth lock good? Debris extraction good? collets good?

    Poor credit card

I can't talk of this item specifically but I have bought quite a few things from Rutlands and they've all been decent.

Just what I was after, my 20y old homebase own brand has just stopped working! And sensibly priced 1/2" ones that will fit a router table are hard ro come by.
