About this deal

A bit niche, but for anyone with a central heating system and hot water cylinder you may need one of these if your motor fails. The motor alone usually goes for £20+, however the cheapest I can see that includes plumbing and motor is £30

Note: you need to check stock at a store near you as some stores are out of stock

    Cheap

Honeywell equivalent will cost 4x that

    Edit - 6x or 7x that!!! (edited)

And they fail regularly. Open them up and you'll see why. Really cheap components.

If the synchron motor has failed in your valve these can be easily and cheaply replaced.
Replacing worn out micro switches is also an easy fix.
Far easier than replacing the whole valve... especially if your pipe work is old and crusty like mine. (edited)

    hello mate,
how do you go about diagnosing where the issue is?
mine wont switch to heating on its own, i can have hot water on its own fine. If i call for just heating, nothing happens, the boiler wont fire up, if i call for hot water as well it works... ive checked the wiring, all appears ok there.
    Thanks. (edited)

I’ve no experience of this valve but I’ve fitted both Honeywell valves and other makes. The Honeywell valves are better but the price can be extortionate unless you shop around. They all contain a motor that can fail after a while. The most reliable motors are made by Syncron whilst the cheaper copies say Syncronous and they aren’t worth bothering with.

Would I fit this cheap valve? Probably not, its not worth the hassle. (edited)

I shopped around for an original Syncron motor, so many cheap knockoffs. I think inside the honeywell valve is the real Syncron motor.

Are these any good? I bought a Honeywell clone last year and it broke in a very short time.

As with most things, you get what you pay for

Costs about this much for just the motor bit inside usually! Loads of videos on replacement; it does help to have some experience in working with basic electrics though to replace parts.

If this is your first "work with wires" home attempt, I'd steer clear.

Great deal if you need one although most people who don't live in vert big house have combi boilers now

Max temp 50 degrees; typical hot water could 65 degrees?

But I have my current one jammed open as pipes need replacing so should really give this a go!

Does this head fit on a Honeywell body? Any ideas?

The short answer is I believe so. I removed one branded on a few year back and replaced with a different one. They sit on an attachment plat and are held on by two screws. The motorised head can be replaced without any plumbing, but you do need be competent with electrics as it's 240v and has 5 wires that have to go in the correct place for it to work properly

Good price. Ours failed on the underfloor heating manifold but I just removed it and left the valve open.

My 3 way valve failed a few weeks ago. Watched the plumber replace it and thougth " Easy job, I could do that". Still cost me £200 though....... So this is a bargain at £13. I will probably get a load of flack from any plumbers on here but it's a very straightforward job for someone good at diy. (edited)

The wiring on mine was.. non-standard shall we say . The previous owner was big into bodge job DIY. Although yes, It is an easy DIY job if you are comfortable with working with electricity

I had to replace one of these on my system. Didn’t do any plumbing (left the pipe in place but moved the electric motor) and the whole job took less than half an hour

Yes, you can just use the motor and replace that, I've done that before (edited)

Not to sure to be honest I've never fitted them only connected them up after the plumbers have fitted them but I would imagine so
