Rab Cirrus Flex 2.0 Hooded JacketWhether prepping for a chilly start or a breezy belay, you'll be glad of the Cirrus Flex 2.0 Hooded Jacket.

Designed to provide protection on outdoor adventures, the Cirrus Flex 2.0 Hooded Jacket is the perfect addition to your wardrobe. Featuring Pertex Quantum, the jacket uses an ultra-thin water-resistant coating to provide increased weather resistance for extreme conditions. Pertex Quantum delivers a high level of water resistance whilst remaining lightweight and breathable for all temperature comfort. The durable nature of the fabric works to give you peace of mind on tough ascents, it provides lightweight abrasion resistance so you'll never have to worry about tears. Pertex Quantum is ideal for use in cold or damp environments where keeping warm and dry is crucial. As well as this, the Pertex fabrication maximises the efficiency of insulation to keep you toasty and warm when temperatures drop. To keep you comfortable and warm, Primaloft Silver Luxe synthetic insulation has been used within the construction of the jacket. Primaloft Silver Luxe is extremely practical in damp and changeable conditions, delivering low-maintenance longevity with clump-free distribution. The lightweight insulation offers unbelievable insulation by trapping warm air inside the garment for maximum warmth at minimum weight. As well as this, thermic stretch fleece side panels are lofted on the inside and flat on the outside for efficient moisture dispersal and comfortable movement. The panels ensure freedom of movement so you'll never feel restricted plus, the move moisture away from the skin so you'll always remain comfortable and dry.

To provide added protection, a helmet-compatible hood can be used to shield your face when the weather takes a turn for the worst. A front zip exists for complete temperature control, it can be worn up to seal in the heat and zipped down to release an intolerable heat build-up. The drawcord adjustable hem allows you to cinch down the fit whilst elasticated cuffs help to seal in escaping heat. Two open-ended stash pockets on the inside of the jacket are perfect for small essential items plus, the jacket can be packed down into the pocket when it is not in use. Lastly, a slim fit is designed to sit close to the body without restricting your natural motion.

It's not designed to be warm, unless you're active.
Whether you plan to walk, climb, or scramble to the summit of the mountain, or beyond, the hard working Cirrus Flex Jacket is suitable for long mountain days and year round active use as part of a layering system. -RAB

    There's a good review here
UKH Gear - REVIEW: Rab Cirrus Flex 2.0 Jacket and Cirrus Flex 2.0 Hoody (ukhillwalking.com)

Active insulation isn't for everyone, as some will prefer a belay jacket for their outright warmth, whereas others will prefer a fleece for their outright breathability; however, cynical though we were about the category we both found ourselves wearing the Cirrus Flex 2.0 a lot. Part of this comes down to the excellent and comfortable fit, which just makes the jacket extremely wearable; however, important though fit is it would be a moot point if the jacket didn't do what it was meant to do as far as temperature regulation is concerned. In colder weather it's good on the move, while on warmer days it's good as a 'just in case' piece, which makes it suitable year-round - albeit in quite different ways.

I’m thinking of getting this jacket and then using a Rab Downpour jacket (or maybe one of the gore-Tex ones) if needed over the top. Would this work? I do have a down jacket which is lovely and warm but too puffy for a waterproof shell so can’t wear it when it’s raining. Thanks

I use the Cirrus Flex (non hooded) with a Rab Downpour and it works perfectly well.

Only small size left. Very light jacket, but no warmth at all. I have returned this as was too cold even in autumn. Bought Mountain Warehouse made one for £39 and same quality but warm.

I saw you make the same comment on the Berghaus Vaskye. I've been using that one to stay warm while climbing munros throughout winter.
