I have finally bit the bullet and am moving to all electric (hopefully will be collecting car next week).
I should have really done the full in depth research beforehand but I am a sucker when it comes to visiting a dealership...
Am looking for suggestions as to which home charger to go with.
I was going to go ahead with the OHME pro, but it has no Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity and the included sim is only free for the first 3 years, then you will have to pay a monthly subscription.
Also are there any that allow V2G that is/will be compatible with Octopus?
Finally I am leaning towards untethered as I can then buy a replacement cable if it were ever to get damaged. However, how robust are the cables that are tethered? is there a risk of cable thieves cutting them?
Regarding tariffs, I am assuming intelligent go is the best one?
I am currently on the tracker tariff and am wondering if I were to only charge the car say 2-3 times a week (77kw battery) is it worth switching to an EV tariff?
Thanks in advance for your wisdom!
Also as a new EV owner anything else I should be aware of :P?","comment":[{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/52680415","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Gj9382"},"datePublished":"2024-05-02T11:18:08.000Z","text":"You will want tethered. Untethered is a faff. I had an untethered at old house and it got tedious quickly when it was wet.
You want a charger with a wifi or ethernet card.
If your car isn't compatible with Octopus Intelligent then you want a charger that is compatible with it. V2G is usually a separate install to the charger and will require an electrician."},{"@type":"Comment","@id":"https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/52681088","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"MonkeysUncle"},"datePublished":"2024-05-02T12:39:29.000Z","text":"It always baffles me what folks use so much electric on.
