We’re changing our Reward Partner scheme

From 14 June, you can exchange your Tesco Clubcard vouchers for 2x their value. You'll still get 3x the value until then. To give you more time to use your codes we’ve extended the validity period for all codes ordered until 13 June, from 6 months to 12 months. Exclusions apply

So by reading website information on how it works it states: “You can top-up the price difference with another payment method on the Partner website” - I don’t use clubcard much, does this mean I can top up £10 and get a code for the railcard?
    premierfella's avatar
No, it means that you can pay the remainder of the balance when purchasing the railcard and using the code, but at the equivalent of full price, if you have less than the value of Clubcard vouchers needed to cover the full cost.

Its easier to explain with an example. Lets say you only have £1 worth of Clubcard vouchers. Until it changes in value in mid-June, you can convert the £1 Clubcard vouchers into a £3 (i.e. x3 value) code to use when purchasing the railcard on the Railcard website. If the railcard costs £30, you'd have a balance of £27 left after using the code that you pay by normal payment methods.

Got the friends and family. Immediately knocked £130 off a trip to London 💪

One thing to be aware of with this card is that you must travel with a child....I nearly got caught out thinking I could travel alone (edited)

The railcards website and app has been broken for months and its currently impossible to purchase a railcard using tesco vouchers from it as you cant login.

You have to go through a really long process of emailing CS with your photos , then getting a reference number and then phoning them up to do it all manually so be warned.
    BucketMan's avatar
Oh for heaven's sake. I can't even select and buy a ticket through the journey planner half the time.
  4. tardigradus's avatar
If you can afford waiting, opt in for a plastic card rather than a digital one- their app is useless and gives errors when you try t load your card to it.

Funny how this old deal gets a lot of heat because it's posted by the deal editor.
This offer has been around since Tesco changed from x4 Clubcard points to x3 around 10 years ago.
    And now x2 is looming.
For that reason it's worth posting I suppose.
    HUKD works strangely at times...
    premierfella's avatar
I think this is the reason really why heat is reasonable at the moment - if you had enough Clubcard vouchers and were buying a new railcard now, you can in effect get the x3 value codes for the railcard now and for buying the railcard in 12 months time (assuming you are good with keeping the codes safe and don't forget to use them next year!)

I only got as far as checkout on Tesco clubcard. That sent me an email stating a second email was supposed to come 15mins later, but still hasn't arrived. Order placed at 6am. Nope, not in the spam.
    BucketMan's avatar
Code eventually came 24hrs later, not 15 minutes!
  9. Gaurav_Bhatnagar's avatar
Sorry, a bit new to this.
Seemingly, I can't purchase this if I have say £5 as my tesco vouchers and the total cost for two together railcard is £10?

Doesn't let me pay the difference via a debit card.
    M3NDEREZ's avatar
You need £10 of Vouchers as a minimum.

I've had the 2 together rail card for the last 2-3 years. Worth it because we usually take 2-3 city breaks a year and it does save us loads. However I can't remember the last time I took a train and there wasn't a strike or cancelation. Can't believe how rubbish rail travel has got in this country
    peakbear's avatar
At least now with all the cancellations you get all your money back as well as the journey (a bit late) if it wasn't totally stopped by a strike etc. It is crazy the refunds you get now even when it isn'y the train operators fault. Easy to get as well.
  12. Jonwillis's avatar
They make a 31-35 Railcard as soon as I turn 36.
    BargainBasementBill's avatar
I bet you get in a short supermarket queue like me
and the 2 people in front of you have problems with thier payment cards, or they need a replacement item because the cashier split or dropped some of the items.
And it takes 3 times longer than the other queues. (edited)

Which rail card can you get for a 40 year old solo traveller?
    DonkeyKonk's avatar
As with the 32 year old above, the Network RailCard, for £30 and is restricted to mainly the South East...

OR buy the cheapest Annual Travelcard and get a Gold Card which is about £180 I think this year (if you Google Cheapest Gold Card you will probably find it) ...still restricted as to where you can use its, but basically also goes to Suffolk, Norfolk and up to Birmingham etc .. a lot more expensive than the Network card, But a bigger travel area you can use it in, and also can travel earlier etc....

Here's a fairly recent discussion about getting the Cheapest Gold Card, probably still relevant

    railforums.co.uk/thr…44/

But for many people the Network Card is probably the best of the two, and it is what I get. (edited)

The one card the dont do is the 26-30. Makes zero sense
  16. Joshu.aben's avatar
Bought a couples railcard and never used it with the strikes - should be entitled to a refund.

    No. You pay full price
  19. morty's avatar
criteria for each of these is awful and even using the discounts the rates for some people are terrible still.

I find at this stage how these people are allowed to only offer disabilty ones to people on the likes of PIP/DLA apaulling ESA people should be offered these perks as well with a lot of them in worst condition then the other two mentioned.
    SilverGlitterChick's avatar
You don’t need to be on PIP/DLA to qualify for the disabled one. There are some conditions where you wouldn’t qualify for benefits but do qualify for the railcard.

(Though I do agree that if you’ve qualified for ESA you should qualify for disability railcards and bus passes too.)
  20. QuangNam's avatar
Better to wait for a bargain on Trainline or TrainPal. Sometimes they sell it for 2.99
    keyster's avatar
    Sell what for 2.99?
  21. charliejade's avatar
Do they do the 26-30 railcard?
  22. wobbly29's avatar
    can you stack railcards ?
    danhufc's avatar
No, you can add multiple but the discount only works once afaik. (edited)
  23. Cumbrian.Hammer's avatar
So I could use £10 of club card vouchers now, get a code, and then not buy the railcard for up to 12 months from now ?
    premierfella's avatar
    Yep
  24. iGlad's avatar
got the code but won't need it until next month.
  25. utigers's avatar
Once you get the code from Tesco's....what's the rough timescale from there?
    01topcat's avatar
Did you find out the answer to this - I'd be interested to know the answer please. . .
  26. markoUK's avatar
These rail cards are discriminatory. They should be means tested.
  27. Andyocpfc's avatar
I have a network railcard and friends and family card and although I book online and often have to show my tickets on the train, have never once been asked to show evidence of the discount cards. Lord knows the amount of people that buy tickets saying they have one, but don’t.
    sussexroyal's avatar
Don't worry, discount cards are checked regularly. Instances of the fraud you suggest are virtually non-existent.
  28. frshprince999's avatar
    Why no 26-30 ?
  29. nyizyhdesigns's avatar
Thank you. We were going to purchase at the £19+ price . I'm so glad you posted this to remind us of our club card vouchers. Had enough for my sons pass. 👌🏽 🏽

How can you buy this if you don't have any points or vouchers

Please help I can't checkout and it says, Sorry we were not able to find any Clubcard vouchers for your account. You can enter vouchers manually below. (edited)
    Jonwillis's avatar
That's the whole point. This offer is for spending Tesco clubcard vouchers. You can't buy with cash.

You need £10 voucher which converts to a value of £30. (edited)
  37. misterjohn's avatar
Thank you very much for posting this!  I managed to creep under the 14 June 2023 bar, allowing me to exchange my points for vouchers and get the offer!  Much appreciated!
    BucketMan's avatar
Sorry, can you give me a pointer on how you did this?

There are some posts suggesting the railcard site doesn't work. Can I get it via here: secure.railcard.co.uk/pur…her

I want to take £10 in points and treble them to £30 for a two-together card.

    Thanks.

I'm currently trying to get a Family Railcard using my 3x Tesco vouchers and the link is broken. I've tried other Railcard links, e.g. 16-25, and that seems to get further.

Is anyone else seeing this today please?
    ukclarkkent's avatar
Looks it's just via a browser as I'm using the Android app and that takes me further...
