This or Crucial P3 on Amazon for £43.99 ... :/ ? P3 doesn't have dram cache but seems faster top speed?

P3 is QLC, DRAM-less and has a low TBW. Simply the top 3 of everything you wanna avoid.

We're coming to a stage where SSD prices are close to HDD prices, and this has happened quite quickly. Back in July I had to pay £43 for a 512GB NVME drive. No point getting a hard drive these days

For smaller capacities HDDs haven't made any sense for a long time. They aren't much cheaper, if it all, and the performance is terrible for a boot drive or (to a lesser extent) a games drive.

For mass storage, we're still a way off SSDs being competitive. A 8TB hard drive in Amazon is £160, these SSDs would set you back double that, and you would need some way to connect that many SSDs in the first place.

So has everyone forgiven awd-it already for all the GPU pricing during covid

Well considering they (everyone the World over!) all did it, what choice do we have? Get the best price anywhere. I don't care on past. Care about now.

Is this better than a Crucial P1?
    Minstadave's avatar
    Minstadave
Yes despite the lower sequential speeds I'd take this over the P1. This being TLC and having a DRAM cache will mean it's better for most people. We're talking pretty miniscule differences though. I doubt I could tell the difference in the real world between any M2 drive without running benchmarks. (edited)

M.2 drives prices are insane at the moment. Really good price this one

Pricing definitely in the right direction. No brainer to get one of these even as a boot drive on a cheaper system. I have a much slower NVMe 1TB as a secondary drive (ED:slower than my primary drive, not slower than the drive in this deal) Never notice the difference, run games from it, save back and to run projects off it. This is all you need really budget wise. At £40 these will be snapped up. (edited)

    Hello,

Where did you get the dram cache information from please?

AWD site lists 0gb, can't see anything related to dram cache on Kioxia site.
