Sub £100 for a decent 2TB SSD seems pretty amazing to me. Great price. I bought my first SSD 9 years ago, it was only 120GB which was the biggest I could afford at the time, and I seem to recall it costing me something like £80 on an Amazon special offer. And it would be very slow compared to the drives of today. How things have come on in less than a decade. Get it bought.

One of the current best QLC NVME drives you can get.

Benchmarks seem to suggest this is optimised for use as the main Windows drive, which makes sense when one considers the market for laptop flash. Windows is constantly reading, writing and running large data caches - somewhat tricky for flash. The improvement in QLC endurance also goes with this, given a modern laptop may have soldered flash, so when it fails the laptop is probably useless.

Obviously, in desktop configuration, we don't have that issue, but we certainly benefit from Intel's need to build a better mousetrap.

IMHO I wouldn’t have cancelled as you would be future proofing yourself for future upgraded slots.
