I am upgrading the internal nvme ssd in my laptop to a larger capacity one. I need to clone the current ssd to the new empty one. Will I need something like this to be able to do that? Also any free software suggestions are welcome to be able to do it with

Yeah you will need this nvme caddy and clonezilla is free as it's open source

Any good 2tb nvme around 65?

Not too many options at the moment, the price crash has stalled a bit for now.
These are probably the cheapest options around today (not including QLC NAND drives) -

So confused why they are sticking with the rubber screw design.

    Good price though.

50420133-MxYfq.jpgThis version isn't a tool free one and has a screw.

So does the thermal pad actually stick with 'glue' to the hdrive?

so you can only really install/change once.

    thank for any info.

Not is my understanding - It's tacky like blu tack. It should peel off again should you need it too.

Soon, the enclosure will be more expensive than the drive you install in it.

Bought this in November to use as portable storage and think its great, i have cheaper ones by Ugreen and Orico which work fine but the quality of this is really nice and the rubber sleave is optional if you don't like that. Had no issues with the rubber button. I paid £27.99, if i needed another id definitely pick it up again.

I assume this just allows you to use an internal SSD as USB storage?

    Correct

Better than the Ugreen one that is usually £19, improved heat dissipation. (edited)

Can this be constantly plugged in to pc and used as a cache disk for photoshop etc? I have spare m.2 and wondering if this through usn would be faster than ssd disk

Received today all good. Bonkers how it's a metal screw to open then a plastic clip to secure the drive. Can't call it tool less really. (edited)

They don't claim it's tool less, they just chose poor wording where they so no 'tool' is needed to run it on Android etc, they should have said 'software'.
Doubt it was to intentionally mislead people.
