The New AMD 3rd Generation Ryzen CPU LineupThe new AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen CPUs have arrived boasting higher performance gains over its predecessor lineup. With higher speeds, more memory and wider bandwidth the new Ryzen CPUs look to improve on and upgrade the way you relax, work and play. The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor includes 6 CPU Cores with 12 threads and a base clock of 3.6GHz that can be boosted to 4.2GHz. The new CPU's are backwards compatible with older motherboards thanks to the same AM4 slot socket however with the newly released chipset of X570 motherboards you can maximize the power the Ryzen CPUs have to offer. Support for DDR4 Memory continues but with the new Ryzen CPUs comes the new PCIe 4.0 Version which has improved the speeds of which your PCIe components such as graphics cards and some storage solutions communicate with the motherboard. Blur the line between elite gaming performance and workstation-class content creation with the most advanced desktop processors in the world.

Great price!
🔥
It's getting so cheap now, I might start looking at the Ryzen 7 for the next build.

Great deal!
Nice find OP
Jesus cheaper and cheaper!! Well done op on finding
Damnit, paid £168 for the same chip and same vendor on Monday!
Bought, thanks!

Now I just need a spicy deal on a cooler

I find the stock cooler works well if you have enough case fans (for 2600 anyway)

Silly price, you can't go wrong here.
An absolute steal

low profile ram. Faster the better, but bargain the better. The best i can see is 3600mhz 16gb lpx corsair (ryzen optimised??) for GBP80

Is that 2x8gb sticks?

I had the opposite experience. Encoding a video and the CPU shot up to 89c and sounded awful.

I went for the Arctic freezer eSports cooler.
Thanks op, ordered!
This is absolutely superb value!
Artonox31/01/2020 20:13

Yes

That's a decent price for 3600mhz dual, you can get 3000mhz for around £58 but I would go for the 3600mhz personally

They're supposed to go all the way up to 95C.

Due to the chiplet design, the CPU cores themselves are isolated on a tiny 7nm die in the corner under the heat spreader, all the heat is concentrated.

As long as you're under 95C you have nothing to worry about. I've seen so many people wasting money getting overkill cooling for ryzen 3xxx and still panicking when they see what they think are "too high" temps.
hot! cancelled amazon order, just have to wait 2 weeks for a return
3200mhz DDR4 RAM here for £56 via warehouse if anybody needs it ! amazon.co.uk/gp/…-50

Thanks for this, just ordered this with the B450 tomahawk max. I have been window shopping for a while as my 4.2 Ghz OC'd i5 4670k with 8Gb of ram was starting to struggle, couldn't resisit at this price.

Also looking at the 16 Gb Crucial ballistix sport LT 3200mhz (AES) ram, from what I remember its supposed to be good stuff. Still looking for a cpu cooler and a 1Tb NVMe drive as well, if anyone has any recommendations for reasonable money?

Thanks but not to sure that I would trust buying "used", you never know if items have been cherry picked or some other issue.
EDIT: sorry, no I didn't buy the ram either so its still there. Would rather pay a bit extra for brand new

Fair enough
Would the ASRock B450M Pro4-F AMD for £67 pair well with this. Also the Artic Blue 850w PSU?

I'm thinking of building my first system.

Many thanks.

Yes it would, MB £64.35 here: amazon.co.uk/gp/…new and the PSU will be overkill depending on what GPU you will be using ?
So much value to be had. Really good to see UK prices coming down so fast. I bought the 2600 during Black Friday 2018 for £150. So just over 13 months and the price has come down to match the 2600.
I've been excited about the 3600 since launch.. finally bought... not sure whether to thank you or blame you OP

Blame me and I need to upgrade from the 2600 but I have managed to hang fire hoping for the 3700x to drop below £200, think I will be waiting a long time
Bloomin; heck I paid £170 last Saturday and it's £15 cheaper. Awesome price now.

I’m still rocking my 1700. Hanging on for 4000 series to see if it’s compatible. If not by then 3700X will he sub £200.

The boost algorithms take temperature into account apparently.
And there is no harm running a CPU cooler. If we wanted to run a CPU at >90c all the time we'd of bought one of intels toasters!

You can get by on the stock cooler with the 3600, granted. But itll be a noisy, hot machine. £20 extra for a cooler and you can knock around 20c off the top end temps

Heat for the deal. This is stupid cheap.
Couldnt of been 24 months ago youd be getting a 2 core I3 for this money.

TDP is not max power.

"The safe assumption is that any TDP rating, whether it’s from AMD or Intel, is just an easy-to-swallow marketing device that looks good on a box."
