Now that the M2 version is out, this is £1000 off, the new M2 ultra is £4199.

This is still a BEAST of a machine and worth the saving IMO, don't forget TCB and AirTime rewards

Made 5 Hackintosh over the last three years with 6900 GPUs and 3950x/5950x CPUs for editing, 3D and motion graphics. Gonna be moving over to Mac again soon and I think this looks like a decent enough proposition, would be a side grade in terms of performance but will be nice to have something that works out the box. Building a comparable Hackintosh now would be getting towards 2k anyway.... Before accounting for all the time to build, hack the OS and apply any software hacks

Very good price, heard great things from every one else in the creative industry using them, even for GPU rendering which is almost on par with a 6900xt.

WOW, that's the exact spec of my PC 5950/6900 gpu and it's OC'd slightly and gets about 28,000 in Cinebench (which is more than this MAC). I gave up on trying to build a hack, i'd be interested in where you went to get the software now that clover really isn't an option? If I could get a decent alternative to PaperPort (paperless office) on the mac then I'd consider dropping windows for day to day office tasks. (edited)

I'm a Mac fan, but even I find this over the top expensive for what is basically a overpowered Mac Mini and I would really expect more than 1TB SSD (edited)

I can't agree - i can't match like for like at the minute as apple are not selling the m1 mac, butthe price currently for an m2 mac mini with:
    - Apple M2 Pro with 12‑core CPU, 19-core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
    16gb of RAM
    - 1tb ssd
    - 10gb ethernet

    is 2400
    source: apple.com/uk/…2gb

This is a good price IMO (edited)

My work place has agreed to buy me a M2 Ultra machine for working from home, so I shall see how brilliant these computers are...

Where do you work to get such luxury

No machine is worth that price

It is if you are a professional and it makes you £100k a year.

I'd be interested if anyone has experience of this over the M2 Ultra? (edited)

Still a lot of money, but for what it can do, fair with regard to Apples usually overinflated prices.

£600 of that extra over the Max goes to pay for the extra memory and storage, making it £900 on paper for the M1 Ultra chip. (edited)
