Would it be good to buy and resell on eBay
    Maratain's avatar
No, it’s usually around this price on ebay and you also have to pay fees.

I ordered this, it will be my first MacBook and I’m very excited about it, but… I am starting to doubt my purchase and question if spending the extra £370 to get this is worth it instead?

If you have to ask then it’s not worth it, very minimal difference for most people.

Pulled the trigger on this. Was looking at a MacBook Air 15” but by the time I upgraded to 16GB and 512GB SSD, the price was a lot higher than this. (Also this is a better processor)

Ok? I'll buy another one to spite you.

would this be available in store too?

The M1s weren’t, but these may be as they were still in warehouse recently.

You can phone them and ask.

Can it play triple A games
    Gareth_Lewiss6w's avatar
It can. Apple has announced the game porting kit using Metal. Check YouTube for Cyberpunk 2077 running on a Mac (this isn't even an official release but someone using the porting kit to get it running on Mac - a little rough here and there, but certainly playable with good graphics settings).

Death Stranding just hit the App Store. Yes, it was released quite a while ago, but this is the best position the Mac has been for gaming for a while. This even runs on an iPad Pro and looks pretty damn good.

But if you really want to game, get a Windows machine or game console. Mac's have never really been targeted to gamers. (edited)

I have the misfortune to use a MB Pro for work.

    The hardware is very good.

The OS is godawful to me, but I've used windows for years.

Helping a bit is software like Raycast and Karabiner.

It's the windows handling that is the weak spot.
    JakeSully's avatar
I was a Windows fan through and through, until I got a MacBook around 8/9 years ago. I’d never go back now. As for the Windows arrangements. I agree but, there is a brilliant app that changes all that and makes it act like Windows. It’s the first app I install.

    BetterSnapTool is my go to.

    Here is a list of others;

It wasn’t in the Liverpool warehouse.

Tempted, but the John Lewis deal at just over £200 extra was voted cold. Will these get cheaper when the Air M3 is announced...mmm
    hotukdeals.com/dea…854
    strooptick's avatar
Yeah cause it's £240 more expensive

Worth upgrading from a M1 pro?
    Rizzzzzzywow91's avatar
No, the M1 Pro is still a good device. I'd wait for the M4/M5 depending on the performance improvements.

"All the ports you need". I didn't see a USB-C port nor some USB 3 ports.

    What Is Thunderbolt™ Technology?
Thunderbolt™ technology is an Intel-developed connectivity standard that delivers power, data, and a video signal over a single connection. The Thunderbolt™ certification establishes mandatory minimum requirements for cables, PCs, and accessories to help ensure greater reliability and interoperability across devices and vendors. For end users, Thunderbolt™-based products deliver a great experience when connecting accessories.

Thunderbolt™ 4 is not the same as USB-C; however, Thunderbolt™ 4 uses the USB-C connector type, recognizable by its oval shape.

Thunderbolt™ 4 Sets Higher Minimum Requirements

Thunderbolt™ 4 certification requires support for power, data, and video with constant 40 Gbps bandwidth. USB cables, devices, and ports may be limited to a variable range of data speeds, with no guarantee of display quality. The Thunderbolt™ logo is a simple, surefire indicator of what a connection between devices can do (edited)

Laughable specs for a £1500 laptop.
    MattMac's avatar
True but they do seem to last basically forever.

    stonking! Better than my deal!
  19. buddn07's avatar
    Fudge!

Looks like I just missed the boat on this one.

I was dithering as to whether it was worth the additional £500 for the M3 Pro and the 2GB additional RAM.

    OOS now, so no choice!

Hmmmm tempting, got a M1 Pro 16inch from the 1299 Costco deal, this wouldn’t be much of an upgrade but the 16inch is a chunky beast, I think I might appreciate the smaller form factor, but then paying more for a smaller, more expensive model, hmmm decision decisions

Bigger is good for around home . the air is what u need for portability...the air wasnt bad... But I needed windows and better speakers in a surface studio laptop .. (edited)
  22. swearwolf's avatar
How long are these likely to be available for?
    Maratain's avatar
Hard to say but these Costco deals usually last a few days.

    No USBA?

Lenovo and Dell tried that and backtracked.

On the off chance someone here can help: my daughter's MacBook has a screen fault, staying black but a bright streak like a crack in the top corner of the panel (not glass). Does anyone happen to know the best route to getting it fixed? 🙏

    I have a base model M1 14" 16GB, 512GB

Is this a good buy/upgrade considering it is just M1 vs M2?
    duckrabbit76's avatar
    NO
  27. h4music's avatar
This is quite a discount compared to the M3 max deal with double the ram and SSD.

I'd like to hear from any musicians about their experiences of using M2 pro based macs for Logic pro

Space grey already out of stock. Silver will probably go very quick
  29. J0nJ0nes's avatar
Gutted space grey is gone, only just seen this. I find the silver looks tacky and cheap (edited)

    Worth “upgrading” from 2021 legion 5i ryzen 5 4090 rtx 2060?
    buddn07's avatar
Depends what your use case is.

If you're looking at web or app development, then probably.

If you're looking to game, then probably not.

I finally took the plunge and got a space grey. Was torn between this and a m2 air (I have £120 in Apple Store vouchers). Not sure I’ll use all the power this has to offer but I’m hoping the additional RAM and SSD storage gives this a bit more longevity.
  35. TheChiefExecutive's avatar
Yes, bought the space grey tonight after much agonising. 2 year warranty and 90 day returns are added benefits with Costco. This price only gets a refurb everywhere else that I can see. Added the online Costco membership for £15. Thanks OP. (edited)
