    Can anyone recommend a jacket with a hood that is actually rain proof? Like worth of UK downpour of rain not a spray mist that some of these jackets mean when they say "water resistant". (edited)

    A lot of outdoor gear now is designed for layering rather than being an all in one jacket. This is an insulating layer, designed to keep heat in but only mild water resistance. It's synthetic insulation so better for wet weather than down which is very warm when dry but useless if it gets wet.

    This would normally be paired with a waterproof outer shell if you were wearing it in anything more than light drizzle. There's hundreds of different options for waterproof jackets - what's best would depend on the fit, breathability, durability, budget etc that you're looking for.

    Decent for the price bought a L size direct from Berghaus, but returned it, jacket has no inside or top front pockets for phone/wallet etc. Bought a RAB form eBay instead for £89

    Please be aware there is no hood in this jacket. (edited)

    Something to note is that the black looks Navy. I have returned it for that reason. I held it up against my black North Face jacket, and it is definitely a deep blue. I ordered 2 for size, and both were like this, and both said black on the tag. You can even tell from the pic that it is not black (edited)
