Description
With three dedicated Aerofoil™ Profile bass drivers, a Continuum™ cone, and a solid body tweeter housing on top, 702 S2 brings the goosebump-inducing clarity and detail of studio-quality sound to your home audio set-up.

Studio sound straight to your living room
Bring the breath-taking clarity and definition of studio sound to your home with the new 700 Series. Replacing the CM Series, the range combines studio-grade 800 Series Diamond technologies with purpose-built innovations to elevate home audio to an entirely new level. And all this from room-friendly cabinets designed to fit beautifully into your home environment.

The new 700 Series. Inspired by recording studios. Made for living rooms.
Featuring a Carbon Dome™ tweeter in a solid-body housing and a decoupled Continuum™ midrange, the 700 Series’ flagship floorstander brings studio-quality sound to your home audio set up. The speaker relays textural details with goosebump-inducing accuracy, making even large-scale recordings sound stunningly lifelike.

Goosebumps guaranteed
Music. Movies. Television. 702 S2 promises to transform your living room into a haven of high-quality sound, thanks to its studio-grade technologies trickled down from the 800 Series Diamond.

A house for high frequencies
Milled from a solid block of aluminium, the solid body tweeter housing design creates an acoustically optimised housing for the tweeter – one that’s exceptionally inert and resistant to resonances.

4117037_1.jpgSharper detail
Carbon Dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.

Truly amazing sound
Voices and instruments are delivered with purity and precision, thanks to the smooth, accurate Continuum™ cone midrange driver.

Clean and clear
The midrange drivers in these floorstanders feature decoupled design, adapted from a similar system in the 800 Series Diamond. Decoupling reduces cabinet colouration, and boosts midrange clarity.

A triumph of science
Developed using advanced computer modelling techniques, the Aerofoil™ Profile bass cone has variable thickness, providing stiffness and rigidity where it’s needed most. The result: deep and dynamic bass.

Audiophiles are weird, same as watchiophiles, never understand throwing away that much money at something that tells the time or plays music, can understand paying for decent quality sound/watch, but when it gets into the thousands I think it's more about "hey look at my fancy stuff" than it is about any actual improvement in quality.

These speakers will likely be enjoyed for literally decades, so I wouldn't say it's throwing away money at all.

There are absolutely diminishing returns in audio quality after a certain price point but I don't think it's ridiculous or "weird" if a music lover purchases a luxury item like this and it's affordable to them.

Also in my personal experience, people who want to show off wealth tend to buy jewellery, cars and watches, rather than speakers, which seems logical given the speakers will be hidden away in their home. (edited)

For most non-rich people (or with not great credit), by the time you're old enough to afford these your ears high-end response has been somewhat knackered, so you'd be better off getting something about 1/3 of the price for almost identical (to you) performance.

Your kids on the other hand will go WOWEEEE.

I spent the nineties going to gigs with really bad PA systems and stood too close without ear protection, so I'm in the "500 quid for an entire separates system is too much" bracket.

Totally agree, they'll also be farting around with sorting annoying sibilance and endless tinkering.

What's the thing at the top?

You looking in the mirror again? (edited)

I'm sure they sound wonderful in the right set up (some complaints about these sounding too bright) but they're not something most would want in their home.

Plain ugly and there's plenty of other quality options without the silly tweeter pod stuck on the top.
KEF R7 can be had for under £2k. (edited)

Except charts like these never relay how something sounds, most people don’t actually want a completely neutral speaker sound, ironically. They often want something more ‘musical’ in whatever form that takes, but it’s all colouration of the sound.

The 702 S4 can be had for £999 and will probably sound very close to this.

No tweeter dome if you want to put upfiring Atmos speakers on top.

Just bought the last batch of 707 S2s and way better than 706 S2s.....£499 a pair, got two pairs, they look stunning in piano black. Some really bargains on last gen if you can find them, it's not like S3 are an revolutionary jump

Not so keen on the shiny black myself but fantastic value at that price
    You did well.

Were they the new ones from eBay (Solihull)? (edited)

Have to admit I'm rather envious.
    Sounds an awesome set up.

You’re gonna need to spend a good couple of grand on the right amplification for these too.

Would love these but they are massive!

Not really £1500 will be enough (edited)
