Had mine for about three years now and it just does the job really well ? easy to clean, easy to check whilst cooking and heats up fast.

Agree entirely, one kitchen gadget that we use many times a week: turns unappealing left over slices of bread into delicious toasties. This listing is for the smaller one, for a family of four the bigger vst026 is the one to look out for.

Not to cause debate but a toastie this does not produce. This makes squashed sandwiches. A toastie has sealed edges.

Ok I did make this point to cause debate

The grill lines on the panini's is especially misleading! (edited)

We got this the vst025, but from Argos, as we needed one for that evening. We have been used to the classic toastie machine that can’t cope with normal sized UK slices very well and puts a line through the middle. It broke though so had to get something else.

I would say the good points are you can get pretty much any size slices of bread in it as the base is big and the lid pivots down so it’s always flat on top of the bread. Makes two nice toasties and the bread always comes out like a professional cafe product! Nice part is it’s easy to clean.

I also bought one of these and it's one of the most used kitchen appliances in our house, great results every time

Have to agree, these are brilliant. Easy to clean, take any size bread, heat up super fast and make shop like toasters.

Grabbed the 026 when Lidl were doing the £10 off £40 vouchers, was so good grabbed my parents one aswell.

Only real negative is it’s a bit cumbersome to store.

If it only had removable plates for cleaning….

Have a similar one and put paninis between grease proof paper to reduce overspill

Really useful and so easy to use and clean.
I've had the larger version for years. These things aren't exactly complex but it does what it is meant to do (edited)

Can back up what others have said I’ve owned one for 4 or 5 years excellent at toasting everything would certainly replace mine when it gives up the ghost!

Great bit of kit and honestly one of the easiest things to clean ever. Had mine for so many years that the handle snapped clean down the middle on its own. Bit of glue and still going strong another year on

It's crazy to think that ours is 5 years old, been in use regulary, like probably 5 out of 7 days a week and still works as new, aslo seems indestructable, super easy to clean/maintain

Agree with all the comments recommending this. Wouldn't be without this we cook steak, burgers ,bacon sliced mushrooms, onions for hotdogs ,toasted wraps and garlic bread. Also makes great cheats fried bread, just brush the thick bread with oil. Between this and my instapot l hardly use normal cooker and hob. (edited)

We're on our third or fourth in 10 years, gets used lots and eventually the non stick coating deteriorates, but wouldn't be without one.
We did have the version with the ceramic coating and variable temperature, was good but only bought it as it was reduced to £17 at Costco, never seen them there since, it just stopped heating one day, again after a lot of use.

I wonder can you make burgers? lamb chops ,steak etc with this item ?

I wouldn’t, might cause a fire as there is nowhere for the hot fat to drain. You need an air fryer, they are awesome and not what you think as I believe air fryer term is misleading, they should be called air cookers. In fact just used our air fryer to cook some burgers.

What ? That’s not correct, a toastie or toasted sandwich doesn’t have to have sealed edges. Anyway those ones with sealed edges are dreadful squashed sandwiches.

This doesn’t make squashed sandwiches, makes lovely ones, if yours are squashed then you are doing it wrong eg pushing down hard on the sandwich lol (edited)

Mine arrived today. Box wasnt sealed. Opened it and looks like it was pre opened. Small dent on the top as well (edited)

ok, I bought this based on the reviews here and after a week can confirm this is an absolute ton better than a proper "sealed edge" toastie maker. The easy clean up is the biggest advantage with this, which was a nightmare scrubbing out dripping filling with the other style. The cheese is melted perfectly and not like molten lava, it also does it in half the time. It's larger so there is no bread hanging over the edge, also the options are endless and you can cook other things in this.

I just rest the lid on the sandwich but it doesn't squash it at all, and I also found there was no need for sealed edges as the filling stays in. A sealed edge toastie maker crushes the bread within an inch of its life and leaves two small pockets of filling with a thick rock hard crust around the edge, the bread also never fits and my last one the handle snapped off when trying to lock the mechanism with sliced bread the size that it is. I think a toasty is any toasted sandwich and sealed edges are optional. But I agree about the lines on the paninis, you only get those if you buy the ones with the lines already on them.

No,no,no,no,no,no! A toastie is a filled sandwich. How do you fill something that is open at the sides?

A George Foreman grill or stove top grill pan would be more suitable for that.

Ordered as well, use a George Foreman which is great, but a nightmare to clean, I'm guessing you just wipe off with a damp cloth with these?

Bought mine on a hukdeal for about £22.50 just over 6 years ago. Fabulous, best toastie maker I've ever owned. Surfaces still not stick and just have a quick wipe down. My locking mechanism when standing it up does work loose but a very very small gripe for a machine several years old.
