Was a little unsure on whether to share this, but thought you don't know until you try, and it seems like a good price for the 2nd gen echo show

  • See your day with Alexa at the ready: set alarms and timers, check your calendar or the news, make video calls with the 2 MP camera, and stream music or series—all with your voice.
  • Add Alexa to your bedside table: ease into the day with a routine that turns compatible lights on. Wake up to your news update, the weather forecast or your favourite music.
  • Manage your smart home: look in when you're away with the built-in camera. Control compatible devices like cameras, lights and more using the interactive display or your voice.
  • Connect with video calling: use the 2 MP camera to call friends and family who have the Alexa app or an Echo device with a screen. Make announcements to other compatible devices in your home.
  • Be entertained: ask Alexa to play TV programmes and films via Prime Video, Netflix and more. Stream favourites from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others.
  • Put photos on (smart) display: use Amazon Photos or Facebook to turn your Home screen into a digital frame.
  • Designed to protect your privacy: electronically disconnect the microphones and camera with the press of a button. Slide the built-in cover to close the camera.

Perfect for your bedside table

Start off on the right foot with Echo Show 5 and Alexa in your corner. Customise your morning routine to wake up with lights and an alarm that plays your favourite song. Glance at your calendar or the news, catch up on a podcast, make video calls to friends and family, set timers, and stream music or series—all using just your voice

This isn't the normal price, I have been watching them for a while.

Don't forget the stand is £4.99 at the minute as well if you need it.

Also pay in 5 monthly instalments, £6 per month makes it more affordable.

I've never done that on something as low priced as this before.
I'd probably suggest not buying it at all if can't buy it outright, but maybe I'm in the minority!

Are older generation echo shows slow?
    Just worried about potential lag.
    MDL199's avatar
This Show has only just been succeeded so it's not that old. Not noticed any slowdown on mine and think it produces really good sound for it's size.

Reading the one star reviews a lot of these will have been returned with the known network connectivity issue. Cheap rubbish is still rubbish, it will waste your time trying to get it to work and then having to return it.

Or some people don't know how to connect it and they send it back. And you pay refurbished price and get an unused device. I sent back 2 alarm systems because they were faulty, and on the 3rd one , I figured out it was me reading in between the lines when setting it up. (edited)

Brought echo dot for the bedroom that's got the digital close display, but now tempted to get a refund and get this.. how do they compare in sound anyone know?

I have gen 2 & 3 dots and this sounds much better than both. Can't comment on Gen 4 or 5's.

Strange, Zigbee isn't mentioned in the specs. Do you you have any other Zigbee hubs in your network?

I’ve got this. It’s a bit slow. Particularly when you’re using it to play videos or songs for kids. Feels like it takes an extra a second or two

can you watch YouTube on these
    VolcanicDom's avatar
Yea, I’ve got one and you can watch YouTube

Id read these always dropped the 5ghz wifi connection, or wouldnt connect, which is the casue for a lot of negative reviews.
I just made sure it connected to my 2.4Ghz connection, and it hasnt acted up once or dropped in, hmmm, 18 months.

These work well depending on the camera you have. We tried these in the nursery with different cameras and the delay was so bad we returned it. What's the point if you have to wait ten seconds to see something, by that time it's too late.

The point is that you should use a traditional baby video monitor instead. That's why a baby monitor is £100+, is built for a specific scenario. Devices like these are not really for scenarios when you need live feed straight away. You can do lots of stuff with this. We use baby monitors, as we did not find anything out there to give us live feed straight away.

In all my years of buying tech I don't think I've owned anything as buggy or badly programmed as the Echo Show 5.

I don't know what the Google Home equivalents are like but I would never buy an Echo Show again.

normal price.. but does look attractive compared to the new device prices

Ah, ok, i just saw the same device posted £15 more a few weeks ago, so assumed the price had dropped

    Nice one got it.

Got mine today, for the price I'm really impressed. My Google home is now redundant! So far linked it up with the Ring doorbell & Spotify no problem.

Also, it came in a plain box, but it's brand new, still has the cellophane protectors.

Only issue is, I now want another one with a bigger screen for the lounge so this can go upstairs

Damn missed all the echo deals

Don't worry these deals will come around again before you know it.

My refurbished one lasted about 13 months.

That's annoying. I've been looking for a 1st gen. I want to use the 3.5mm output.

Good price compared to the latest dot on Prime Day.

Can anyone see any colours other than black? I wanted a white one but can't see them.

Any recommendations for a stand that has cable management, we’ve just put in urs in a different eoom

    Love our echo show 5

Great to drop in on the camera and check your home while you’re away.
Great for displaying recipes in the kitchen, playing music, setting timers and just using it to show off photos.

It’s a little slow for things like YouTube videos but that’s not been a problem for us. (edited)

Yes, you need to configure it in the app, and it will. With some delay, but all doorbells have delays.
  23. sheffield788's avatar
Voted hot! £30 is a good price. The Echo 8 gen 2 refurbished is more than twice this price, which is ridiculous.

I was skeptical, however bought one and it arrived today.

Impressed with it for the cost, I have now just bought two more for the kids alarm clocks etc

Fantastic value for what you get.

I'm glad these are gone. I kept checking and thinking if I needed one. Good price, but I've got too many smart devices.
  29. crazyraptor's avatar

    deleted2874966's avatar
No they come with power plug, well should.
