Any sage drill wisdom here, for occasional DIY use?

There are a lot of these "WKYZGAT" type non-brands on Amazon, the price and reviews seem ok, so any help is appreciated.

It's only 12v and so restricted to DIY use/general maintenance. Other than that what's not to like? Decent reviews (including good after sales support), and excellent value. These days I've got as much faith in your "WKYZGAT" brands as I have in the named brands that on the whole have sold their soul to the devil (aka the CPC).

What should I be looking for when buying a drill?

Not this. Even a corded drill at this price will only last a year. If you're getting a drill, battery, charger and bits for under £30 they must have skipped quality wherever they can and this will be awful to use and die after a few jobs. If you need something urgently get a reasonably well-known branded wired hammer drill. If you want cordless, wait until you have saved up enough to buy something 18v cordless hammer drill with professional non-amazon reviews that you can buy extra batteries for and later an impact driver. Not SDS. DeWalt and makita are great. Ryobi, bosch and Erbauer are good. 1.5mah won't last long and will take ages to charge with that charger.

only 12v, not powerful enough for serious drilling. Go for 18V (edited)

A quick question, I'm a newbie for drills. When drilling into walls (not brick or mortar) would I need to take precautions before drilling in the bathroom for toilet paper / towel holder? Is there a certain way I'd need to drill or consider certain positions in the wall? I don't want to be drilling into any electrical or pipes.

You can get detectors that warn you of pipes or wiring.

I have this. It's great for maybe putting a doorbell up or for mdf but anything brick or solid wood it struggles if it's not on full charge.

Bought this 2 years ago and it has worked very well for my DIY needs

This is a completely unknown quantity and probably best avoided if you don't want to be disappointed.

HYCHIKA kit is normally decent for the price.

Obviously not for heavy duty jobs but OK for drilling wood and most screw jobs.

I bought this for work. Had it for two years before I dropped it and broke it. Found it again on offer and bought another for the same work. Mind you, all I used it for was general DIY and fastening up cabling equipment.
I've changed jobs and I just realized I need another one of these again so will be buying again, thanks op

    Decent enough for the price.
OK for drilling wood/MDF and most screw jobs.
Might stuggle getting screws tight into walls due the the low torque.
