Might not be the purchase for you if you have privacy concerns. Eufy has many security flaws.

If those don't bother you, it's a well built product otherwise.

Ah.. this is the company that uploaded images to there cloud server without telling anyone until found out.
    alan.stevens's avatar
Point is its a pathetic company that wanted to lie about your privacy.

I'd avoid Eufy like the plague (and I've bought from them in the past). Major data security issues, as others have mentioned, plus the camera can easily be taken and all the recordings erased. That's before you even get started with the fact that someone can hack your entire camera network simply by reading the serial number printed on your outside camera. Avoid. (edited)

I can live with most of the faults, even poor security due to incompetence, but deliberate lying shows malice. I used to love their products and made so many of my friends buy their doorbells...never again.

Great camera bought 2 in November at this price to replace old floodlights and amazed at the quality

Worth noting with eufy. Even if you have a homebase station thing. If the thieves steal your camera and pair it on their own base. You lose all the recordings on yours. Lol.
    maniac618's avatar
Yeah it's ridiculous, I can't believe they overlooked that. I also can't believe they still sell them with the 'flaw' known.

Thanks OP On ebay you can buy cases to house the cameras in with a chain. People quite happily let google and Alexia record everything they do, but then run down Eufy.

With OPs camera you would obviously put it up high, where a thief could not reach it.
I don't have the flood light version but have the eufy3 cameras. With the app you get notifications to your phone when triggered and very impressed so far.

Completely different issues at play, and multiple concerns. I’d recommend you take some time to read some of the articles posted and consider their attempts to cover up.

I have a standard wired floodlight installed currently. Would the wiring from that be suitable for this?
    ajayb's avatar
Yes it should be I used my standard floodlight wiring to fit a rung floodlight which would be the same wiring as this one.
  9. swarnford's avatar
So the images are stored on a data card - seems to be you have to go up to the camera and access the card - is that right? In which case useless (edited)
    Valheru's avatar
I think the homebase records everything centrally and you have that in your house

I will never trust Eufy after the burglar stole my neighbour's device before ransacking their home. Given the other scandals, it's a firm No No for us!

I use 3 of these around my property and they are great - that so called ‘security issue’ doesn’t bother me - if someone is desperate to view my drive or my garden that can help themselves, either by looking over the fence else going to some great length to hack into the system, either way, these cameras alert me 99% of the time and I’m happy. As for some scroat making off with a unit…………..
    hcc27's avatar
See the thing is, it's not only your security footage they potentially have access to. They've lied multiple times about that (their security is so bad any third party can actually view your feeds using a public URL!!).

Leaving that aside, and I hear what you say - who cares what they see outside your house - these guys also have access to your router. From that point, some malicious code is all it will take to gain access to other parts of your network. That is the real concern. (edited)

Theses are the best security cameras, I have used all the top companies and most charge a fee, these are spot on with alerts and very clear recordings, bought my 4th one heat.
    Junahs's avatar
Shame they can't keep to their timelines and promises on Homebase 3 support.

I have had one of these cameras fitted for about a year with no issues after trying a number of battery / solar cameras that failed after a few months and were a bit hit and a miss regards wifi connections. You get quick notifications if someone is at your door which is what I wanted. As for the company spying on me and uploading my videos if they are that sad as to watch who comes to my door good luck to them. My neighbour across the road does the same peeking out the window. I don't think it is an issue

I'm a bit confused by the EUFY products. If you buy this one then is it better to buy their similar non homebase products? And is there a way of easily identifying the non homebase stuff.

It seems stupid of them to have products that do and don't work with a homebase but to not clearing brand them.
    alexc100's avatar
I have 4 Eufy cams but all non Homebase models. All fantastic. I think the benefits of the Homebase are apple kit compatibility for added security and of course centralised storage. Arguably a massive benefit compared with local cam storage, but if your cams are well hidden or high up then it should not be an issue. (edited)

Shame the design is fugly. Also a shame about their handling of security, but I don't mind who watches my drive :-)

The equivalent from Google is £270 and subject to what they want to charge... and them not turning it into a brick in a couple of years.
    123sonny123's avatar
    Exactly.
I will try this one. Otherwise will be resigned to go for the Google outdoor cam. I know it's good, but I don't need the constant uploading.

After they got Exposed recently I’d never use Eufy again

Some incredible InfoSec bods on this thread....

GUess you should try more than just reading the Verge and watching Linus

That said, I know you've made your minds up and wouldn't try to persuade you otherwise...

I tried viewing other peoples remote camera feeds from Eufy cameras and actually it was remarkably easy. I'm not sure what you could say to convince me to use them after that.
