beggars are everywhere. visit Edinburgh - Princess street, measure the number of beggars per m2. I am sure that it will be more than the average in Istanbul.

Sorry I didn't wish to put a downer on the deal as the flight price is very good.
I only speak from my own personal experience.
I went in January and for the 4 days I was there it was a constant 2C with a drizzly northerly wind that got into your bones.
It was 15 years ago when I went ..maybe the beggar problem that I encountered is not as bad now. Good luck to anyone who goes.

good prices ,a bus from Sabiha to Taksim costs 12TL(£5 each way),weather last year in Sept/October was fine, warm, dry average temp 26C,taxis inexpensive, public transport flat rate 2TL(75p) however many stops in one direction, obvious tourist sites are in easy walking distance around the Sultanhamet area where there are countless hotels/eating places.I live in Istanbul and find it a great city,a few beggars, but what city doesnt have them, perhaps less obvious are those who at least try to sell you something like a pack of paper tissues for a Lira or so or the street traders selling designer goods for very little money ie a Lacoste badged jumper for 10 TL(£4) bargains everywhere,so please come and enjoy a wonderful place

Voted Hot!! Just a tad risky though as it is known that Istanbul is notorius for Albanian Hitmen who may want to seek revenge on you and your family

True, but what a great way to visit Asia & Europe in the same day & the view as you go over the Bosphorus is breathtaking

Went in September 2 years ago. Weather was about 20-24 *C ... like the best summer day in London
It's a great city, good and cheap food, loads of things to visit. Stayed 4 days which weren'r enough.
