for those interested the intel version with i7 12700h is £20 more at amazon too

also similar performance and build quality for the money is this 2023 asus strix g16 with 500nits fhd+ 165Hz, intel i5 13450hx, rtx 4060, 16gb, 2yr warrany etc £999 at costco. (edited)

I appreciate SSDs can be changed but the Costco alternative is a 512gb SSD out the box. Only a few £10s difference in value but IMO 1tb SSD is the minimum for a gaming PC/laptop in 2024.

Maybe I am being daft but I can’t see any details on the listing regarding the brightness of the screen?

Hp omens are the range rovers of laptops. Look decent, on paper decent specs but will break time and time again. I know that most manufacturers have issues but it seems to be consistent with hps and more common the newer the laptops are.

False , I'm was an authorised seller of hp and sold a lot of them , very rarely an issue, and the best support of all the manufacturers ( I know I dealt with all of them , but the last few years I only dealt with hp , as the support was atrocious with the others)

I have this laptop, have had it for about a year. Its very good and roughly on power with a 4070m. Looks nice and for the money I dont think there's anything better

Since older processors won't support DDR5 i think it'd be helpful if we could include if it's DDR5 or DDR4 in the description

Ryzen 6000 processors only accept DDR5.

I had this laptop and returned it as it was extremely loud even when idle / general web browsing. Unlike other gaming laptops setting it to quiet mode didn’t do much.

Obviously gaming laptops will be loud but when you can hear the fan noise over noise cancelling headphones it’s a problem.

I also generally found the omen software to be one of the worst I’ve used.

Could be a fault with the unit I had but might be worth considering if you are bothered by noise.

Only 16:9 screen? I don't think I could ever go back to 16:9 after having 16:10.

    IMPORTANT NOTE

Anybody that has purchased this , please check the status of your warranty. Do this using the HP Support Assistant (if you didn't uninstall it) or on the HP support website.

I bought the i7 12700h version and on checking the support app, it said that my warranty started on 19th January 2023 and expired on 19th March 2024.

There is an option in the app to dispute the warranty dates. This takes you to a page where you can state your case and include proof of purchase.

I will absolutely be sending my laptop back if there is no warranty with it. Which is a shame as it's been rather excellent so far.
