Update 2
Codes still valid
As many of you have purchased the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, including me/kids, thought i'd compile the current character unlock codes (Free of course) - Codes should work across various platforms, formats and console/PC.
How do i enter the codes?
You can pause the game and head over to the Enter Code section
OR or you can open your Holoprorector and scroll over to the Enter Code section, you'll see an option to enter the 7 digit code.
If done correctly, you'll be greeted with a screen saying 'all done' or to that affect.
Codes are as follows:

ARVALA7 - The Razor Crest ship
C3PHOHO - C-3PO (Holiday Special)

All of the holiday specials, Snap Wexley and the two ships (razors quests and the resistance transport ship) are the ones that you can only unlock through a code. (edited)
It's a brand new take on the old Lego formula. At first the change felt a bit off putting but after another go it now plays like the movies. Missions are linked together by smaller tasks and it's all within the overall Star Wars universe. Highly recommend it. As someone said above, it will take a long time to 100% this game due to how vast the game world is.
If it's anything like previous Lego games, character selection becomes unlocked later on.
In other Lego games, you can only choose other characters in "freeplay" mode (once you've completed each level this option is available), and you have to buy them first using Lego coins collected while playing.
There's a lot of positive reviews... currently sitting at 83/84 on Metacritic. It's a completely new Star Wars LEGO game and not a remake/remaster of a previous one... although it does share similarities.
There's 20 or so planets/hub worlds where you'll find side missions, collectibles and other stuff. Took me a couple of hours to reach 80% completion on one of them last night so there's a lot to do.
I was a little confused at first and wasn't sure if I was actually in a story mission... but basically you have a few smaller missions to get through, people to follow, areas to traverse etc before you reach the story mission. These are usually quite short and only 5-10 mins in length (five story missions per episode). But the way you reach them flows better and feels more cinematic. And obviously you can replay the story missions for 100% completion.
If you want a challenge you won't find it as it's still a LEGO game. But if you want a fun Star Wars collectathon suitable for all ages then it's the best LEGO game in years imo
*freebie, yes. Similar to Borderlands content and so on.
Thanks
these are free codes and there no extra costs. There is a DLC pack for characters that are in the Star Wars universe but not in the Skywalker saga….. so in that respect I’d say this game is a pretty good example of how to do a game no?
also RE - deal - the gaming community here has always valued things like codes for games and when new content joins a service. If you don’t like scroll past. It has 2100 heat the community has spoken. This is the way.

Thanks
They’re codes that come from buying actual Lego toys. You get a code in the manual. So I think that’s the only way to obtain them and they can’t be unlocked another way in game.
Thanks. I know it’s only been out a few days but yesterday I couldn’t find any decent reviews. Sounds like a must buy to me. Now to decide which version to get. Cheers
Thanks! Will take a look when back online
Ah ok thankyou not really interested then lol
