About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
Lenovo is getting rid of end-of-life laptops, the 15.6" T series with the Intel i5 CPU and 3 years warranty.
If I remember well, these were over 1.5k for this config in late 2022.
You can get it cheaper without the OS (£620), and there is some TCB as well.
No rumblings from my four users who sport this model (Middle management staff).

That said - I've heard of writers using a separate mechanical bluetooth keyboard and a tablet form factor which makes more sense even if you write in cafes, etc. It's not an option that many people think of but really worth considering - ironically it's easier to juggle on a table as you can put the screen back a bit and the average 60% keyboard (for instance) has a smaller overall footprint. Best to avoid overly clicky "blue" type switches, I would recommend a short travel red speed switch and using PBT keycaps but it's personal preference. If you're writing a lot - pay attention to this and you'll find typing less stressful.
You would go red "linear/gaming" switches over the "normal(?)" brown switches?
Or is this just to minimise noise?
Never tried either (I don't think) tbf (edited)
This one is is non touch.1920x1080 IPS screen

Don't feel like this is that great
Intel's hybrid copy of ARM's big.LITTLE has far too many problems with some workloads. SQL Server seems to have had such a regression that this new Alder Lake Dell Precision is easily out-performed by my old Haswell ThinkPad (we are have to use 2016 for compatibility with some legacy apps but I tried 2022 and it was the same). Power usage is atrocious too; the "15W" Alder Lake "U" CPU will throttle with a 65W supply whereas my old 37W Haswell was fine with a 45W supply. Something does not add up!
Other than that it is still perfect. My other half has one too from about the same time & it is mint but hardly ever gets used.
I think you are just unlucky. (edited)
