LG OLED55G26LA

Evo - enhanced
LG’s Evo panel maximised OLED’s already impressive picture performance. Brighter and clearer than ever, Evo is a big step up. Now, even Evo has just got better. With this LG 55 inch TV, you get new heat dissipation technology, which makes the picture even brighter than the original Evo screen. For lifelike, brilliant images, the LG OLED55G26LA is simply the best of the best.

Made for the wall – Gallery design
No deeper than a typical heating controller, this slimline, ‘Gallery’ design TV takes pride of place in your room, without dominating it. The latest G-series OLED TVs have a slimmer bezel for even sleeker style. The supplied wall bracket mounts the TV flush to the wall, giving this TV a stunning appearance. (Please note, stand not included but LG ST-G26ST55 stand is available as an additional cost option).

Alpha 9 Gen 5 processing for improved sound and vision
Now in its fifth generation, LG’s mighty Alpha 9 processor optimises sound and vision for spectacular results. Using AI technology, the picture and sound are optimised to best suit the genre – be it movies, sport, gaming or regular TV. With enhancements to picture tone-mapping, background enhancement and upscaling, picture processing is more advanced than ever. Virtual sound channel up-mixing increases from 5.1.2 to 7.1.2, giving an even more enveloping sound on the LG OLED55G26LA.

AI Picture /Sound Pro for professional sound and vision
Using a huge database of over one million visual date points, AI Picture Pro uses deep-learning algorithms to recognise content, remove noise and optimise the picture. AI Sound Pro leans from more than 17 million audio data points, identifying voices, effects and frequencies. From here, it optimises the sound by genre, giving a more natural sound quality.

Ultimate detail - Dolby Vision IQ
For ultimate detail, in all environments, this LG OLED features Dolby Vision IQ. Dolby Vision IQ version uses data within the signal and light sensors inside the TV to adjust the picture quality for the best contrast. This improves the picture’s brightness, without ‘washing out’ the depth. You get a consistent picture quality, however light or dark your room is. Whether you’re watching a brightly lit sports event or moody movie, Dolby Vision IQ adjusts to suit.

See the picture exactly as originally intended, with Filmmaker Mode
If you’re mad about movies, you’ll love Filmmaker Mode. Designed in collaboration with filmmakers and Hollywood studios, Filmmaker Mode lets you experience the cinematic vision, exactly as the director intended. Overriding the TV’s own motion and picture processing, Filmmaker Mode presents the correct aspect ratio, colour and frame rate – just as the filmmakers intended.

Made for gaming – with Game Optimiser and more
The improved Game Optimiser utilises an enhanced gaming menu, giving you quick access to important settings. There are now five game genre presets, including a new one for sports games. Equipped with 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 sockets, this LG TV is designed to get the very best from today’s, and future, games consoles. ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) mean that your TV automatically adjusts to the optimised settings for gaming – giving you a smoother and faster response.

4.2 multi-speaker system, AI Sound Pro and Dolby Atmos compatible sound
Featuring an enhanced, 4.2 speaker system, the OLED55G26LA offers more impressive sound than lower models. Power is also up 50% to 60 watts – giving a richer, room-filling sound. Using AI algorithms, AI Sound Pro up-mixes two-channel audio to virtual 7.1.2 sound – producing a much more immersive sound and enhanced dialogue. With a Dolby Atmos processor built-in, this LG 55” TV decodes Atmos sound tracks - giving you the potential for even more enveloping audio.

Welcome home, with LG webOS 22 – the best in smart TV
Widely regarded as one of the best smart TV platforms, LG’s webOS system continues to set the standard. The latest webOS 22 offers improved personalisation and recommendations. You can create up to six personalised profiles, with individual viewing suggestions, sport alerts and app lists.

NFC Magic Tap for content mirroring around your home
You can access your webOS TV profile via your smartphone with the NFC Magic Tap app. Even better, NFC Magic Tap lets you mirror content from your mobile to the TV – and not just a single TV. You can mirror content from one TV in your home, to another, using the Room To Room Share function. This lets you view cable or satellite content on multiple screens, without the need for additional set-top boxes.

The hub of your home entertainment – with voice control
Featuring LG’s ThinQ AI technology, you can control a Home IoT ecosystem with natural voice recognition. With both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built-in, it makes it even easier to control your LG OLED TV and quickly access the entertainment you’re looking for.

A joy to behold when off but stunning when on, the LG OLED55G26LA is a TV that has it all.

I'm looking for a 55 inch oled tv would this be the best one to purchase?

This is one of the highest-rated TV you can buy (at this price point) alongside the equivalent Samsung S95B - which one is better for you depends on a couple of factors, but the summary is the S95B provides a more vivid picture, and this G2/C2 provides better blacks; I had a sitting with both and opted for this model because the movies looked fantastic, and I could clearly see everything happening even in dark scenes, something that was a struggle with the S95B.

Worth noting that the LG G2 & C2 are identical in spec, but the G2 is specifically designed to sit flat on the wall and comes at a hefty premium for this. The C2 can be wall mounted but is deeper and needs room for the cabling. If you want the best-looking wall mount, then the G2 (this model) is ideal - if you're not too bothered or the TV will be on a stand, then the C2 offers far better value for money. (edited)

Good deal and v.low price for the unit in isolation. I just pulled the trigger on this tv from John Lewis, who are currently selling for 1499, but you can get £20 off with member code right now, then offering free wall mount service (£125), and a £100 JL voucher. All accounted for, that makes the actual unit price £1254. With JL warranty and the 18 month interest free scheme also available, it seems a decent alternative to this so thought to share.

Did you get the 55 version?

It was a little bit cheaper on 30/11/22 according to this which was probably Black Friday sales.

I've got the 65" and it's picture is mind blowing for films, it's incredible for gaming. Absolutely faultless really, it's the pinnacle of OLED.
    SnoopZ's avatar
What's it like for 30fps gaming in your experience?
  6. harry0206's avatar
if only. the 65 hit £1500
  7. gg1pl's avatar
See you G3 at this price same time next year
    SnoopZ's avatar
That's what I'm thinking too, but I'm worried about the 30fps gaming issue and OLEDS I keep reading about so I'm more confused than ever now on what to do.

Looks like a lot of folks are just waiting for the right C2 55" deal at the moment, including myself. I had hoped to see a few Bank Holiday Deals. but nothing yet.
  9. SnoopZ's avatar
I wouldn't touch the S95B with a barge pole, loads of issues reported since release. (edited)
  10. SnoopZ's avatar
Good price for anyone considering the 55C2 this could be a better purchase, the only downer is it doesn't come with a TV stand.
    Afsar_Hussain's avatar
I am considering 55 inch c2. Only thing is I need it with stand. Is the g2 alot better than the c2
  11. SnoopZ's avatar
I was reading about the S95B last night and alot of people appear to be having issues with it and for this reason when I eventually purchase my first OLED I'll play safe and get atleast a 55C2.
    bsmaff's avatar
What issues did people say with it?
I own the TV and the only issues I have is no Dolby Vision and the plastic above the panel is slightly bent.

Overall fantastic TV although needs calibrating as not so great out the box

On to my second G2 after the first one failed within 48 hours due to a dodgy power supply.

Just be aware it's fiddly/scary as balls maneuvering this TV into position, it's incredibly flexible and has to have all the cables in place before you mount it so if you've got to route the cables before clipping it in to position like I did then make sure you've got someone to hand to help with the cables.

Now it's installed and working it looks fantastic, even the rubbish quality stuff the kids watch looks brilliant. I bought mine from Richer Sounds with the free G1 sound bar and I don't regret it for a second.
    Cooling_Deals's avatar
Also got mine from the Richer Sounds on the same free soundbar promo.  I love the TV, but thought the soundbar was gutless TBH; it's not bad, but for an apparent £700 value, I expected more.  Packed it up for eBay and replaced it with a Samsung Q990B, which really compliments the fantastic TV
  13. Choppychop's avatar
Are any places still doing the G1? Or is that just OOS everywhere now?
  14. Afsar_Hussain's avatar
I was waiting for c2 55 inch which costco selling for 1079. I won't be wall mounting. It's it worth posting extra for g2 if I'm not wall mounting

    Paying extra sorry# (edited)
    SnoopZ's avatar
The screen is a little brighter but you would also have to purchase a universal TV stand for it or the official stand which costs £100 but seems impossible to purchase.
  15. AJ_Singh's avatar
G2 55 has a hdmi fault on this TV and yes expect it within 2 months of buying. After 30 days, you can't get a replacement tv but an LG repair team out to fix your new TV. They odder to replace the whole motherboard. Pretty lame
Otherwise, picture quality is 10 10
    itsmonkey1's avatar
    What does the fault do?
  16. Afsar_Hussain's avatar
Just seems to be constantly increasing

Gonna go costco and buy this week. (edited)

The G2? Is that in-store or online?

    Hi All,

For those in the know & have kept up with prices historically, what sort of price drops should we expect to see on the C3 or G3 say at Black Friday or this time next year?

    Many Thanks!
    TechFiend's avatar
My personal hunch is that the G3 specifically will hold it's value better as the costs of things have gone up. Plus, the technology has gotten even better.

I'd say people buying the G3 won't be too worried about saving money. The C3 isn't wildly different from the C2 from what I've read.

Quite different TV's, depends if you are caught up in the hype or fallen down the TV rabbit hole in terms of what you should do.

For me personally, anything over a £1000 is a ludicrous amount of money for a TV (65 inch, but I did just buy a TV for £1249 recently).
  19. George_Papadopoulos's avatar
It's a bit irrelevant but do you have any recommendations on tv stands for this tv? The one from LG seems to be out of stock everywhere in the UK. (For the 55'' model) (edited)
    SnoopZ's avatar
The only official stand for this TV I can find it for the 65in model at amazon. (edited)

Excellent price. I don't understand why the c2 isn't dropping in price. RS doing c2 55inch for 1099. If I was wall mounting I wud deffo buy g2. But lack of stand is putting me off
