The Lumia 435 is the cheapest Lumia available, but still offers an impressive smartphone experience.

2MP Camera
Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim

PAYG Upgrade is available for eligible SIMs on the following networks:
Virgin
T-Mobile
Orange
O2 (£19.99)
Vodafone

Handsets from Carphone Warehouse are unlocked for use on any network, the handset will be a SIM Free variant, no matter which network you choose.

The deal link probably won't work correctly, as Carphone Warehouse deal links never seem to work.

To get the offer:
Visit the Carphone Warehouse website
Go to 'Mobile Phones'
Then 'Pay As You Go'
Then 'Upgrades'.
Find the Lumia 435 on the page for £29.99, go through to the item page where the price will be reduced to £14.99.

Alternatively, search for 'Lumia 435' on the carphone warehouse website, click 'Pay As You Go' on the search result, then switch the type to 'Upgrade'.

Don't forget Topcashback for £5.05 cash back, make it £9.95!

that is cheap

Crazy price, I got this phone for my Mum a few weeks ago for £29.99 and I thought that was unreal.

will this get a windows 10 update? its been a long time since i used a windows phone i think i had 6.1 and went to 7. then moved to android, but i have a xbox 360 and wondered what kind of connectivity you get ? £10 would be ok just to have as some sort of app sharing or be able to play games whilst away from home - is this possible?

are cpw phones unlocked?

Yes, Baring iphones which lock to the first sim.

I know this may sound daft to phone savvy types but what exactly is an 'upgrade'? Do you have to take your old phone in or something?

I wonder if Quidco would track:
£5 for all pay as you go phone sales

No. You need to have a PAYG SIM on any of the networks below:

O2
Orange
T-Mobile
Virgin
Vodafone

Generally the SIM must have been in use for 6 months or more. It must have been topped up, and a chargeable event (such as a phone call) must have happened within 6 months.

To buy an upgrade you will need to provide the mobile number and SIM serial number (the number printed on the SIM) to quality.

It asks you for your phone number during the order process to check if your are eligible. I think you need to have been with the phone company for 6 months or more, I can't remember precisely.

Take in a PAYG sim card in regular use that has had credit applied to it in last 6 months. They will check the Sim account to make sure it is in regular use, if so you get the upgrade price. Borrow a friends PAYG sim if you don't have one. Carphone warehouse phones are all SIM free and can be used on any network so doesn't matter what network PAYG sim you use for upgrade.

Why do I at this particular moment only have one irrelevant (EE) pay as you go sim.

This deal is just too good to be missed.

great deal nice find

Aslong as you've been on an active pay as you go number from the network for X ammount of months, you can basically just enter the number and upgrade.

Thanks chancooluk, bunkum100 & Uridium

...you say they ask for a mobile number and sim serial number...do they use this number for anything? Don't want to give a friends number and have them inundated with scammy texts?

CPW says yes: Help Section

But, that might mean that it locks to the network of the first sim card that you put into it.

Has anyone bought one of these recently that could give us a solid answer?

Apple iPhones are the only phones which lock to the network of the first SIM used.

I have purchased phones many times from CPW, they have always been fully unlocked unless otherwise stated.

Not in my experience. I have never received any spam texts as a result of using this service.

Anyone got a number I could use?

Since this has 1GB RAM, you'll be able to play all games in the Windows Store (though not necessarily at the same high graphics of something like a Lumia 930!). You also get Xbox Smartglass, which is a pretty useful functionality extender for your Xbox.
I bought this phone for my mum at £25 in the last deal. It is a superb little phone....and competes very ably with my own Lumia 1020.
For this kind of money, there is simply nothing that competes on the market. It is fast, fluid, & nearly all apps can be saved to the SD card (unlike Android) - so there really are v.few shortcomings.

Can I use my current Sim Only sim in this.... or do I have to use Pay as you Go?
Sorry I ain't up to date with all the phones since leaving school.

Has it been topped up within 6 months?

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 which is in desperate need of replacing. Price wise this appears to be a step backwards, anyone better knowledged in phones have any ideas?

Haha - my dad had the Galaxy Ace 2 (now has a Lumia 1020). Jeeees, that Ace was a truly awful phone.
I bought my mum the 435. It performs as well as my Lumia 1020. As long as you use an SD card, you will NEVER get one of those silly out of space warnings that plagued my dad's Ace 2. The screen is also nicer....oh, and it is far far superior in terms of smoothness of the OS.
With all that said, there is also the Lumia 640 at £79 or so which has a brilliant screen/v.good camera/excellent battery life and a more powerful processor. It is worth the extra - unless you are just after a v.v.usable phone without the need for the bigger/better screen. (The screen on the 435 is non-IPS, so the viewing angles aren't brilliant).

Yep, IF you have an eligible pay as you go upgrade sim.
(All Carphone Warehouse phones are unlocked to all networks)

I think you do have to have topped up in the last 6 months to get the deal. One old but active sim (call made in the last few weeks) wasn't accepted but another old and more used sim was. That one was probably topped up in the last 6 months.

Just a reminder for everyone. You get free MixRadio with all Lumia phones (advert free music playlists) that works brilliantly as a music discovery service AND allows you to download 4 playlists for offline playbacks (about 4 hours worth).

You also get free worldwide offline navigation via (Nokia) Here Drive+

Except for Here Drive+ offline maps, which is very annoying indeed. Otherwise it is very impressive value for money.

help please, i use giffgaff payg, which is on the 02 network, would i qualify for an upgrade?

This is a really good deal. Sadly I have no Pay as you go SIM that is eligible.

Also, anyone help? My GF was eligible a few month back when she tried her number but she used her father's number and SIM to upgrade rather than her own. Now when I try to use her number, it's not eligible?

Unfortunately not, it needs to be an O2 branded SIM.
