This is super niche. And I can hear the "a biro cost 12p, I can buy XYZ loads of those for one of these" from here... but for those who like leather, expensive pens, and tech it might work.

This is a montblanc pen and case that you can use as normal, it records what you write, and uplads it to your local device digitally.

Free shipping if you get it sent to your local store.

Info added by

Take the traditional art of hand-writing into the digital realm with Montblanc Augmented Paper. Comprising a lined notebook and a StarWalker ballpoint pen in a leather envelope, the set allows you to transfer written notes and sketches from paper to a mobile device with the simple push of a button.

  • Write, sketch or draw on the paper notebook with the StarWalker writing instrument, exclusively developed for Augmented Paper
  • Record all writing and sketches with the digitiser enclosed in the leather envelope
  • Press one simple button to transmit your notes to your mobile device via Bluetooth Low Energy
  • Convert handwritten notes into digital text and edit them with the Montblanc Hub app
  • Edit, store and organise your notes on your smartphone or tablet

  • Present your handwritten notes on screen with Live Mode
  • Share notes in different formats with one click
  • Customise notes by applying personalized templates
  • Compatible with iOS 10.0 or higher and Android 5.0 or higher
  • Available in 11 included languages, the handwriting recognition allows you to translate hand-written notes into digital text for better searching, editing and sharing.

Tag and search for thousands of notes using the Montblanc Hub app, which features a note-taking function that can be used independently from the Augmented Paper and digitally integrates the writing feeling of a Montblanc pen. You can transfer files and edit notes when the Augmented Paper is connected, as well as creating digital notes when it is offline.

Contents: Black leather envelope with electronic digitizer housed in a dust bag, StarWalker writing instrument, #146 notebook with lined paper, USB cable to charge the device, three Meisterstück "Hommage à W.A. Mozart" small ballpoint refills, tweezers for exchanging refills, quick start guide, safety manual and guarantee card.

Buy an iPad & Apple Pencil for less. Pop it in a Folio Case and you have the same thing + a free iPad!

No matter how much we pretend it's the same thing, writing with the apple pencil on an ipad doesn't feel like the real pen and paper. I use mine for note taking and it's nice, but it's definitely not the same thing. (edited)

Very niche and not for me, but voted Hot cause this is the kind of extra stuff I search HUKD for

Is there anything similar to this in terms of the technology at a more reasonable price (and without an unnecessary thick pen like Mont Blancs are)?

Mont Blanc is a mountain. This is made by Montblanc.

Any idea how this stacks up against the likes of Remarkable2 and Onyx Boox?

Honestly, probably not as good as this is a "heritage" approach using real paper and a real pen.

I am voting Hot just to counter the nonsense of those who have an opinion on how others should spend their own money.

Thanks. It's tricky. This is 20% off something that is mad expensive. But someone, somewhere might just have enough money to get it.

This is actually pretty cool and I love the idea of paperless. But man that's an expensive notepad!

My father bought me a starwalker and leather case for getting a new job years ago. Whilst I wouldn’t dream of spending that much on a pen, it is a beautiful object and even the case is so well made. I do love writing with it, but again, silly money for a pen!

Heat because its a good reduction and Montblanc are a respected brand. If you're in the market for something old school then I can see the appeal of this.

Made me internally shudder as I remember switching the TV on a few weeks ago and 'highlights' of the show Love Island were on...there was a woman on there trying to tell the guy that Montblanc was a "fashion brand not a mountain".....I switched channel shortly after but she was completely adamant that it was not a mountain.

Maybe they will sign her up after the series as an ambassador :/

If the worth of your words, in terms of monetary value akin to J.K. Rowling's, is deemed significant, then this can be rightly regarded as being of meager cost.

That is profound! I can honestly say that I would merely do some doodles in it, and thats about it - so I guess its not for me

Trying to find does this need augmented paper refills? We had a similar system where the pen captures the writing on augmented paper then uploaded it to the system.
