BTW, here's my story short.
Someone wanted to scam amazon and bought few 4080s from amazon and sold them cheap on ebay.
I was one of these people who bought them on ebay, but I felt it was too cheap to be true, so I video recorded whole process of unboxing all the way from opening the doors for the courier in one take.
I glad I did, as the gfx was fake! It was cooler only with detached board!
Now, I don't know if the ebay seller was a scammer or was he scammed on the way from the amazon, but you make sure you take your evidence just in case.
Also, it was an MSI model....and I got my money back, but also I was permanent banned of eBay for some reason despite all provided evidence.
How do I know it was a gfx from amazon in the first place? Because seller showed me a receipt for 2 4080s from amazon and tried to blame me for cheating.
Anyway, just make sure you take your evidence guys just in case:) (edited)
But big companies generally honour that price to keep a good reputation.
Also are the gpu boxes securely sealed with shrink wrap or tamper tape?
Thanks
One problem is that as soon as I removed the card from the anti static bag, a tiny screw dropped out. Looks like it is used to connect the shroud to the heatsink just under one of the fans. I can see the empty screw hole and the shorud can lift off the heatsink slightly. Not happy about that, might see if I can reattach it, not sure I have a suitable screwdriver.
Everything else physically looks okay on first inspection.
Edit: Also now received an email from Amazon with separate codes for both the 33% off Xbox Game Pass for PC and Diablo IV. (edited)
Sigh. We know Nvidia is looking to put the 4080 die in their 4070 range. The new 16GB 4070TI leaps in performance and desirability. The 4070 will be 16 or (unlikely)24 GB, unless as is just as likely the 12GB 4070TI is rebranded as the new 4070 (or just given the old 4070 price- its the same board design after all). Hmmm, didn't that just happen here?
So that's the new 16GB 4070TI, using the 4080 die, at the old 12GB TI price, and the 12GB 4070ti moves into the previous 4070 slot. The old 4070 is presumably heading to 450. Implies a much lower price for the 4060TI- maybe 300ish.
The AMD 7600 is <250, we know. I guess the 4060 is around the same.
Anyhoo, all this implies a decent respin of the RDNA3 GPU chiplet, and AMD's lower chiplet stack performing better than feared. So down come all the GPU prices- don't forget there's a metric tom of RDNA2 and 3000 series cards still in the marketplace to hurt pricing even more.
I've been in tech so long I've witnessed so many highs and lows in CPU, GPU and RAM pricing. This recession is the worst ever when every factor is taken into account. AMD and Nvidia have exhausted every means to keep GPU pricing high. Now they need to sell product into a very cynical buyer's market. They've hurt customer trust thru their rotten greed, and both companies have cheaped out on their die sizes this gen to maximise profits- which has ended up backfiring. This 4070TI should have had 24GB, which would have helped shield scrutiny of its poor performance at launch cost, and assist it to sell far better than it did. Nvidia must be kicking themselves now for their VRAM policy.

Is this the Gaming or Ventus?
Crazy good deal I'll be naming my first kid after you
And checking back, the cheaper of the 2 are all now gone, with the more expensive option down to 4 in stock. Best be quick!
And gone! (edited)
