Cold, simply because it is RRP so not a deal. Deal implies some saving over RRP, none to be had here so not a deal....

Really trying not to pre-order this. Burnt on the Wii U, and 3DS day one purchase (poor year 1 libraries). Need to hold out. >.

    It's RRP.

    Cold.

I appreciate the information, but not voting either way as it's RRP.

My be to you sir, but that's not what the word actually means. I guess that's why it's call HotUKDeals and not just UKDeals. Glad I could help. Thanks for taking the time to post OP.

Does it though? So if Ford released the Ford Mustang with an RRP of £5000 … Does it though? So if Ford released the Ford Mustang with an RRP of £5000 you're saying that wouldn't be a "deal"?

Maybe there might be a case for this as a deal if it offered exceptional value in its field like a £5k mustang would in the field of automobiles but this blatantly doesn't. Ps4 and xbox one are far cheaper and more powerful, have huge existing libraries with lots of great games under a tenner each. Yet if i go posting "deals" with them at rrp say at amazon they would obviously go freezing in seconds just like this "deal" should imho but just because its new and hence somehow more desirable and by nintendo, surely the apple of videogames, it gets massive credit for being the standard price...

Seems incredibly doubtful. Nintendo hasn't been mainstream since the 90's.

... so are we just going to ignore the Wii's 100 million units sold or? Seemed pretty mainstream when everyone's family and their dog was playing wii sports.

Pretty high I would assume.

Ok now I know you're on a wind up. What can millions and millions of sales possibly tell us against steve-bezerkers mainstream shooter loving circle of friends?

Where does it say guaranteed day one?

Nintendo only sell stuff they are sure to have in stock on launch :). It was recently out of stock until today meaning they managed to secure more.

    Ordered.

Even since my grandad bought me my first Gameboy with tennis & Mario, then NES & Zelda with the gold cartridge, then the SNES, it's always been a tradition of mine to pick up the new Nintendo.

Admittedly the Wii U was the most disappointing yet but even though my grandad has now passed I'll carry on with the day one Nintendo purchases.

    Zelda looks awesome anyway.

I dunno why everyone is whining about the price of games, if you had been vigilant you'd easily find the Nintendo Switch games for cheaper than RRP, I already got 3 games for decent prices.
Mario Kart + Legend of Zelda BoTW - £78.98, exactly £39.50 each - from the Amazon BIGTHANKS deal
    Splatoon 2 - £39.99, argos £10 off

    Are you sure?!

In December I ordered a NES Mini controller, a couple of days later they took the money, three weeks later they cancelled the order citing they couldn't get stock. I had to chase them to get my money back.

I wouldn't trust them with anything, and if it does go pear shaped, they really won't give a damn!

Personally speaking, with something as unproven as this I think you'd have to be nuts to pre-order it.

    Still, it's your money..!

I mean the console has nothing to praise except for portability, and with slim consoles and laptops that out-perform the switch what exactly is the sales point of the switch?

I only play games on my handmade bespoke non mainstream console. The games are made from bits of bark and organic teabags, i can't bear all the mainstream Nintendo consoles myself. Down with the gaming big pharma, down with the Monsanto Switch.

Peace love and harmony to all my fellow non mainstream consoles out there, the Apple Pippen, The NeoGeo and the old Mega CD

That's a bit redundant considering new budget laptops with GTX 1050 cards outperform a PS4 Pro. The quest for best spec is becoming stale now. Get systems based on the games you want to play, because PC Master Race will never be beaten.

Those same games have stood the test of time and remain fun, often for unrivalled multiplayer fun too. Is not that different to the shooters of today? Most of them to me are like the old classics (Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake), they just have different names and updated GFX. Same thing?

Thanks for this, Amazon have screwed me on Neon by moving to 9th March. Don't really trust the other retailers

remember people, this isn't a mainstream console... lol

Buying this means you are helping basically an indie developer keep the lights on for another year...

I mean they only made $4.5bn last year so times are hard and all that.

The deal here is the fact you can get it at launch. Yes its selling at RRP but its increasingly difficult to get one for launch. For those wanting it day one this then is a deal

The RRP is £279.99 and this will sell out at launch, why would a retailer discount it if they are definitely going to sell all their initial stock anyway. I paid the RRP for the PS4 and PS4 Pro I got on launch day from Amazon, retailers typically don't discount new consoles at launch as they make virtually no money from them anyway. The differences are what you get bundled with it in terms of games and accessories and how much extra those bundles cost.

Edit scratch that I did pay slightly less than RRP for PS4 Pro because they price matched Tesco, but the PS4 Pro had weak demand at launch.

Between Wii U and 3DS they've been putting out 20+ games a year themselves. Add in Japanese third-party support and it shouldn't go short.

If you think it's a cold deal then vote cold and move along. If you have a link to a cheaper price then a cold vote and a comment is helpful. If someone on for sale or trade are charging too much and you know it, then a comment to warn buyers is very helpful. If you've got experience with the said product and have proof of problems then a cold vote and a comment is great... Even a little humour here and there is great..Instead we have members that come on to posts on here slating members for putting in time and effort. Or even worse the members who just give irrelevant opinions on stuff they have no interest in. Is life that fun for you that you have to jump in and throw negativity around.. Just my opinion but seriously get a life.Edit: Prime example above... Thanks for the input philreid...

Im just calling it as i see it. No discount over rrp equals no deal and hence not that great of a contribution to the deals section. It would be fine in misc though.

As to the best price that was gameseeks preorder at £198 but obviously not available now. As to my input, at £280 i think it is overpriced and launch software deeply underwhelming and peripherals astronomical. Id urge people to vote with their wallets and not buy till the price falls. Of course that won't go down well with the nintendo die hards this thread seems to have pulled in but so be it.

I have nothing against Nintendo, like the look of the switch but think they have the pricing wrong, its a sub £200 machine nearly £100 too expensive with no bundled game. I intend to buy but only when its sub £200 and with more to play than zelda...
