sorted byNo I've bought one myself in the past the warrenty is with Nintendo the same buying ps or Xbox from them. Also they sell the genuine adapters quite cheap so it's easy to use your free points to get the adapter so your not spending extra yourself.
Thanks sradmad, have a good evening
Youre missing the point completely... the price will plummet after new gen and then no new games will be made, or very little... the price is just too high, them games are 16 quid and 30 quid. Just not worth it.
No, you're missing the point. Wait for new gen and get little or no games for your 6 year old (he will probably be 8 by then). Buy now and get some really good titles at decent prices. I'd rather pay £200 for a current kid friendly console with a couple of good games thrown in than think about paying £400 for a hypothetical 'new gen' console that doesn't exist yet, will have few games for the first year that it does, probably no games bundle and new games will be £60...
Where do they post from?
Heat - slightly less than I paid for my Alza deal pre-Christmas, albeit with less games bundled (the Alza one included Zombii U and some dodgy exercise disc the Mrs likes on top of these ones so not exactly an epic extra bundle).

I genuinely don't think it'll be long. I think by Christmas, these things will be down to £150 as a standard price.
I really hope so. I want to introduce a family member to how amazing this console is... But not at £200 (_;)
people said that every year since launch though
The console is only costing you like £135 here. Those 2 games retail for around £30 each.
I want physical copies for both and can get both for less than £30. Splatoon has been posted on here at less than £20.
I own a Wii U and both these games, but when buying for someone else, at this point in its life cycle, I think it should be slightly cheaper. The Xbox One prices have dropped so much recently, just hoping for the same on the Wii U.

I was looking for one but it is infact dead for the price, they will stop making games for this when the new gen comes out which is very soon, why pay £200 + £40 for each game when the new gen is around the corner? Atleast with an xbox or ps4 they do other things and the games are not expensive as hell! the ps store and xbox live offer way more value all round.
I just wanted one for my son whos 6 but the price is stupid.
And we have a winner
£200 includes a couple of decent games, so at your valuation of £40 per game the console actually costs £120... but of course the games don't really cost that unless you buy off the shelf at release.
New gen consoles rarely have a stellar line-up of kid friendly games until a significant amount of time after launch. Have a look at how many big, good quality PS4 titles are suitable for your 6 year old... it isn't many. Nintendo just seem to get what young kids want in a way that other consoles miss.
It's also worth a mention that your kids can play with the Wii U without needing to monopolise the TV as well, which can be handy.
We have a PS4, Vita, DS and a Wii U. I use the PS4 more but my young son plays with the Wii U much more than anything else. We also have PS Plus and he finds very little to bother with on there.
edit: tl;dr - Buy a console for the games it has now, not for the games it might have in 18 months.

Keep arguing i need an excuse to get this!! Say £300 budget get me a wiiu and a few cool games.
TBH, if it's for a young 'un then Mario Kart will keep him occupied for ages - kids tend to focus on one game at a time so I would save my £100 for extra games for now and keep an eye out on here for deals over the next few months. Kids of that age like to play along with adults or older kids so a second controller is probably a good buy, although if you have an old Wiimote kicking about or can get one cheap that would do.
The Lego games are great (although they are all multi-platform so not strictly Wii U games) and can be had cheap. Yoshi's wooly world and pretty much any of the Super Mario games including 3d world and maker have hundreds of hours of play in them. New Super Mario Bros. U Plus New Super Luigi U Select is currently pre-order on Amazon for £19.99 as well.
The caveat is that if it isn't really for a six year old and is more likely to be used by you then you probably are better off with something else.
