Is the 8gb / 256gb variant a good deal too?

I'd say it was if you are wanting a stock experience

Nice deal. It's always preferable to get refurbished items from Nokia itself because somehow I always feel that they should know what they are doing, I know it's simplistic but there you are.

4.25% seems to be available via TCB, even in conjunction with this code

Loved the Nokia 5.3, hated the 5.4. With every new generation of the models the quality and specs seemed to be dropping. Is that still the case or have they reversed that trend now? I think I'd find it really hard to buy a Nokia again after my last experience.

The X30 is a good quality handset, well made, good materials, stock Android. The majority of the other models they sell these days are cheaper low end models, equivalent to the older 3 series or less.

What are the usb C ports like for longevity? Previous Nokia 7 Plus and 8 broke after 3 months

It was a well known issue back then. They replaced the faulty port on my Nokia 7 Plus free of charge. Hopefully they learned their lesson and make the ports more durable these days.
