These are fantastic if you connect them up to a Pc. They work best with the Razor software even if you don’t have Razor hardware as it seems better at controlling the lights in games and movies.

To get them working properly on a tv you need the special HDMI box which costs a fair bit but if you watch movies and tv through your PC or laptop then these work far better.

I’ve got them around the desk (top of monitor and one either side) with a light strip running around the edges of the desk for lighting below.

I use these on top of a kalax as accent lighting, great alternative to a table lamp

Does anyone know if these link directly to a Philips ambilight tv or do you still need the hdmi link?

You could get them working on a TV with a firestick attached/android OS/Nvidia shield etc (and a hue hub obviously) by using a free app called Hue Stream. Netflix, Prime and iPlayer won't work but YouTube,Kodi, and the main free on demand/catch-up apps work fine.

I'm currently using 2 hue blooms (each bottom corner of tv) and a single hue colour bulb (top middle) to create the same thing these 3 would produce. Tempted to upgrade to these as an all in one solution. (edited)

Does anyone know... I don't have an Ambient TV, or the HDMI sync box. But do have the Hue Bridge. Can these still be used as normal smart lights, just not 'integrated' with the TV? Most importantly... Spotify music integration??

    Thanks! (edited)

Yes, they show up as normal programmable lights, can be added to entertainment zones for music syncing - all the good stuff

You can use them with a new samsung tv like this year's but the app you need is something astronomical like £80. The hdmi box didn't work at higher rates. Mine turned into expensive lights

I have three of these and the hue led strip on my Sony tv. I use hue essentials app and paid the £5 so that it replace the hdmi box for films. For gaming I just set a nice ambient colour. At this price it’s a good deal but a shame the hub isn’t included for those wanting to dip their toes.

Would these work for syncing up with LG Oled C2 TV? Like the light strips??

    Sanji
You'll need ambilight+hue feature on the TV, I think it's Philips TV exclusive and you'll need to buy a Hue hdmi sync box.

What’s the difference between these and the led light strips on amazon
    Sanji's avatar
    Sanji
More applications, can sync with Philip's ambient TVs, sync up with the hue bridge for more control (turn on while away from home). But if you're not going to rig the house up with hue lights get the led strips you find cheap on Amazon, saving you a fortune buying into hue.

Does anyone know if I can just use these as a set of lights that's not attached to the TV (or anything else). I need something on the other side of the room in the corners behind the settee for some ambient lighting ....I have all the hue stuff already set up with a hub. I just need some lights as my Philips hue iris aura lights have stopped working. Any ideas?

I have a Philips TV with Ambilight and Razer mouse and keyboard. If I buy this pack would I need to buy a Hue Bridge, to get these devices all working together? If so, could I use these lights without the bridge, possibly with my Razer devices via their software? (edited)

This is an insanely good deal - £34/light when £40 would usually be good value. Picked up one today, still in stock at several Argoses (Argoos?) around the UK.

One thing that's worth noting, depending on your intended use, is that there's only a single power supply which all the lights plug into. This is fine if you want them all behind your TV, but if you thought you could have two in one room and one in another - no dice without an additional PSU.

Anyone know where I can get a spare power supply, I don’t want all of these plugged into the one plug, not sure what plug I would
    need, any links appreciated

There’s one on Amazon for twenty quid but some of the reviews mention burning smells which doesn’t fill me with confidence :/
