    Do you want to bring up a kid that demands a £400+ phone that is a brand chaser, cares what image others have of them ?

    Save yourself some money, bringing up someone with a spoilt attitude and get them something appropriate for their age

    Got this phone for £159 on last promotion and can honestly say I've been blown away by how good it is for the money.

However I am slightly confused about some info on this post - "need 1000 balance to redeem". Does this mean I can redeem some of my 887 points but won't be able to use it on this order because I have/had less than 1000 points?

    having a points total of 1,001 for eg would mean you could redeem all those points for a discount of £10.01 off your next order. Its not really worth chasing considering the points can be redeemed for coupons with a better discount.

    Thanks I see it now.

    It's £189 on the Poco app, there's a £5 code you need to add (new users).

    I'd personally argue it's overkill for a 9 year old. (From an absolute personal view I would say anything which isn't just a phone to ring/text home is overkill)

    Also brand is almost a non thing these days. People are buying flagship OPPO these days which used to be cheap Chinese phones! The market has changed massively in the last few years (edited)

    Go for it.. can't even tell the brand once a cover is on. And how long will the 'eughhh he's got a poco' last? Son should be confident and proud that he's different from the usual crowd! (My friend's son is 15, still begging mum and dad for a smart phone!) Anyway, just to add, maybe the M4 Pro is a better choice for a kid as it has a plactic back. .. durability.

    This Poco is glass back. (edited)

    At my kid's schools, I got the impression that a minority really cared about having an Apple phone: the rest took the Micky out of them and were happy with any brand of Android phone provided it performed ok.

    I wish it was the same at my daughters school. Unfortunately brand snobbery exists between teenagers. (edited)

    My 14 year old got her first phone recently - my very old Moto G, rooted and with internet capability disabled. I think the 9 year old will be fine, but I'd worry about the parents.

    Note 11 Pro Plus 5g has a better chipset and faster charging but a smaller battery (and a few other differences such as a HDR10 display). Everything else pretty much the same.

    Give them your old phones if you've any.

    If my kids are anything to go by, all they do on them is YouTube, bit of gaming and message mates.

    Oh and they've both broken a phone dropping it so not great loss if it's an old one.

    Saying that they are on older software versions but a risk I'm happy to take.

    hello,

    Checking the app, I can see tomorrow the M4 Pro 6GB+128GB will be at £149 and on Thursday the M4 Pro 5G 6GB+128GB for £159.
    Will those phone also have the £15 extra discount via the app? so effectively:

    M4 Pro 6GB+128GB --> £134
    M4 Pro 5G 6GB+128GB --> £144

    Thanks

    They really seem to be pushing these X4's. Just wish they'd do the same with the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. Virtually the same phone.

    Would prefer the Redmi, over the POCO merely for the more dialled down styling, matt finish and option of white colourway. Superficial I know, but just my preference. (edited)
