Honestly, I have 16 GB on 6, and I really feel 16Gb is nothing. The next option is 32, which I would never go with as it would still mean compromise with content you have downloaded. I would rather shell out some extra money to go to 64 or 128
Amazing the difference in price just for some extra storage with an iPhone. Storage is mega cheap these days and probably costs Apple pennies. Obviously they want to flog their cloud storage plans instead

My daughters had her iPhone 7 32gb for 2 years now and still has 10gb free and never deletes stuff, my iPhone XS already had 150gb used so it really depends on how you use it. I store lots of music and videos and keep quite a few photos, it’s the videos that fill it though. If your not gonna store a lot of videos 32gb will be more than enough. (edited)
Use google photos to save some storage and have all your photos saved in cloud.
Stream music.
You won’t have an issue with 32GB if you’re an average user, spend 12 hours+ on my phone and love social media, no problem even with 32GB
