The main issue now is that AMD are pricing relatively high compared to Intel who have always been high. It just feels like a cash grab. The graphics card market is even worse with inflated Nvidia pricing being the marker for AMD pricing. I'm done with PCs for now and am sticking with consoles.
Note, I've got an R5 1600 and GTX 1080 so haven't upgraded for quite a while but managed to get myself an Xbox Series X in all the madness.

On the one hand, I hate increased prices just like anyone else.
On the other, these Zen 3 CPUs are quite literally the best CPUs that money can buy - they outperform their Intel equivalents in pretty much every metric. Given that, you could argue that AMD would be justified in charging top dollar for these chips, but they haven't done that - they've just normalised their prices relative to the competition.
The Zen/Zen+/Zen 2 prices were deliberately low, as a way to help AMD to break back into the CPU market. With that accomplished, there's little reason for them to retain those low prices indefinitely.
And hopefully in another few months, there will be a more sensibly-priced (and actually available) 5600 non-X. (edited)

This. AMD could have easily slapped another £50 on the 5600X and it would still have a market, even without the current heightened demand. As a devout SFF builder, being able to get this much performance at 65W is a godsend!

True but likewise also remember to comment when people start putting out that nonsense that AMD is somehow a consumer friendly company.

They haven't gouged as much as Intel, though.
Costs more than an 8 core Zen 2. May have faster single core but most certainly isn't worth £20 MORE than the previous gen with two less cores. This was AMD's chance to well and truly bury Intel, their pricing structure for Zen 3 has been a bit bizarre.

Scan, overclockers, amazon, ccl computing, box are the main players.
Funny how everyone complains when its AMD, but when intel were selling chips at massivly inflated prices people were wetting themselves with excitement at the thought of getting ripped off.
This chip even at 300 is better value than anything intel has. So while we may not like it, you can hardly blame them.

I beg to differ, spending a little more for a 6 core over an already capable 8 core is absolute bonkers when the 3700x is already a massive improvement over what Zen+ was capable of.
Unless you're aiming for 90+ FPS in your games, it makes zero sense to me. Your GPU should be the highest priority, and if gaming is all you care about you could save additional cash by going with Intel, especially as supply and demand is ironically making them at the cheaper alternative at the moment. The faster clock speeds on the cheaper 6 cores will net you decent enough gains over Zen 2 processors as well.
Ordered 2 different CPU’s from ebuyer. Email cancelling both shortly after
I got mine from Amazon at like £403.99, placed my order at £406.99 It's tough to get one though. I set up stock alerts for it and every single time I'd miss out. Then one day I decided to keep refreshing over and over for a couple of mins... it appeared, so as you can see... Nabbed it
Arrived a few days ago as well as FC6 (Via email) No idea when I'll have time to do the build though. It looks pretty fast, haha

Impressive. It feels alot like a well balanced PC but with Console simplicity. Gamepass is great value and now includes EA Play. The added HDR looks fantastic on my oled. Incredibly silent even when playing Borderlands 3 at 4K 60fps.
Sony had a better set of games upon release of the next gen consoles but I'm mostly playing games I've missed or not played on my previous Xbox....Gears of War 5, Halo 5, Borderlands 3, Star Wars Fallen Order and Risk of Rain 2. Some of these have been optimised for Series X and they all hold a nice locked 60 FPS. I've pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox.....hopefully we don't have to wait too long for it to be optimised for the Series X.
Until the PC madness settles down, I'm sticking with Xbox for my gaming fix.

Keep an eye on ZenAlert on twitter (enable notifications, its easier), they have been trickling in on amazon all week (in small numbers) 5900 and 5600 seem to be the rare birds this launch (edited)

not a deal £20 over rrp
a literal month wait, I'll pass.
sure, give them £20 more than the RRP, wait a month, then get a refund if your lucky, nah
Hard to get hold of at the moment, although above MSRP still a lot cheaper than paying 'market price' on eBay.

Seems like they got botted. Maybe they will become available again. Preorder experience with ebuyer seems poor mind. Any other alternatives? Anyone know if Scan or OCUK are accepting preorder again?
I ordered this earlier today at around 10.30am from ebuyer, I for one was happy enough to pay the extra £20 over msrp to get one so I can finish my new pc build.
My confirmation email said estimated delivery 8th December so who knows what will happen.

Yup, ordered on 7th November
Hmm, doesn't bode well. My parts are all due by end of Dec, would be good to get cpu then too.
