    Because:
    a) this is 70" rather than 65"
    b) not everyone has access to EPP/student/blue card discount

They have changed the energy ratings recently, most big TVs are coming up as G

Also, anyone buying this, consider getting a firestick or have other means to access apps, Samsung's low spec smart is uselessly slow

Dude I don't buy cheap crap TV's. I buy top end and I've never had a single TV die on me ever.

I usually sell them on before they die. Oldest TV that is still working today I have it to a mate who uses it in his bedroom is a pz85b Panasonic plasma. That must be 15 years old now or thereabouts.

My Panasonic gt50 sold to a works colleague also still works today. Must be around 10 years old.

My current LG still works and is over 5 years old.

My Sony xf90 is also 3 years old and still fine.

I also had a top end Sony before the xf90 that I sold on gumtree that was fine after 3 years I can't recall the model now.

Even going back to before staying at my parents we had a Toshiba that lasted 20 years it was a wide-screen CRT it took 3 people to carry it into the house from the delivery team that brought it in think it was 38 inches which back then was as large as it got for a CRT.

In fact old TV's lasted forever. We only had one die and that was the one we used commercially in the pub a rear projection Sony 55 inch in the 90's. It was used practically all day though.

As a TV repair man your experience is with broken TV's. All the TV's that don't break. Guess what. You never see them.

No way does a TV last only 5 years. A decent TV will easily last 15 years no issues.

I think both are backlit edge LED, so blacks will be grey on both, your old one is 100hz, this is probably 60hz. Your old resolution is 1080p this is 4k, as I watch high resolution content that's important for me.
I'm not a TV nut, happy to let other people vent about the difference in quality, I have the 75" version of this and it suits my needs, others will demand more and can pay for that.

Was walking round curry’s looking at tvs the other day and noticed pretty much every tv in there was an energy rating G. Surprised me but that must be what most are

All electronic item ratings changed last year. So your TV that was A+ could now be a G under new measures. markselectrical.co.uk/con…tml

"Digital Tuner DVB-T2/C" is what it says it has.
You want something that shows a S/S2 tuner.

How is the average lifespan of a TV 5 years? My current one is 5 and a half and no issues. Upstairs is maybe 2-3 years old and no issues. I upgrade regularly though I have had about 4 TV's in the past 6 years and older ones usually get demoted to another room or sold on. Previous TV was a Panasonic plasma again no issues and sold on to a work colleague and another a Sony bravia 55 inch sold on gumtree.

I'll be buying another next year that's because I want oled not because it's going to die

Having used these TVs in the past, I wouldn't bother with these basic Samsung models. Not the same model but these Ultra Smart TV are trash. My one has network issue, and black spot appearing after a minor hit from an object. If you got the cash (I don't lol), I went ahead and got an LG OLED TV and it's miles ahead.

I think elecrical equipment and how long it lasts is important. I worked in a TV factory, samsung. Your product quality was good, any Samsung TV I have bought has lasted years. Cheaper ones not so long. Except I got some 28" DVD players from Mand S with a 5 year warranty. Both working away after about 8-9 years. Made by Cello a British company. I think all electrical items should have a 5 year warranty to ensure they are quality. ASDA used to do this on all electrical items with a mains plug, but for 3 years. Richer sounds for TVs do a 6 year one, so what you pay gives you a TV for at least 6 years. Rant over.
