Cheapest way yet to get the Galaxy S2 handset sim free .
Recently dropped to £9.99 for the handset at dialaphone on the O2 100 mins contract.
Cancel the 500mb internet bolt on (£6/month).
Cancel the gadget helpline.
Cancel the phone insurance.
Downgrade the tariff after the minimum time of 9 months to the next lowest (make a note in the diary!)
Contract cost:

£21.92 * 1 (first month)
£15.92 * 11 (next 11)
£10.5 * 12 (last 12)
--------------------
£312.54
- 50 (Quidco/TCB matched)
--------------------
= potentially £262.54 for the handset!
Handily spread over 24 easy payments. Don't think of this as a 24month contract. Just consider the overall handset cost.
Handset should come UNLOCKED and UNBRANDED.
Contract sim can be used as a bonus for 100mins/month or given away to other light users in the family.
Correction OP. One can save another £6 on Day 1 of the contract if they dont use any data even accidentally on the O2 sim card. Steps explained below in my comment.

Charity Idea:
Just had an idea but don't know if it's allowed so Mods feel free to remove this comment if it's against hukd rules.
Basically Dialaphone do a refer a friend policy. For each friend who starts a contract, Dialaphone will pay out £20.
My idea is that for those people still ordering that don't already know someone on Dialaphone we use the recommended by a friend option during our order entering an exisiting customer's phone number and after dialaphone pay out give the money to a charity. 11th November is the perfect day to think about doing a good deed.
I'm not sure how we can do this ensuring 100% that some one person isn't going to walk away with the money but my suggestion is we rotate the person every 5 recommendations. Hopefully most members will be trustworthy enough to donate after they get the money in their account. I'm a medical student if that adds any weight to my character.
Anyway if this is against the rules feel free to remove this paragraph. If anyone has better ideas feel free to comment/message and if anyone wants to try this feel free to msg.
Being an O2 customer, you will also qualify for £5 discount on O2 broadband. This could be very handy for somebody like me whose contract with O2 is already going to end and the only way to keep that discount is to top up £10 every quarter on an O2 payg sim card. So a further saving of £80 for me for the 8 quarters (24 months).

Black is now £34.99 however White is still £9.99

Non-geographic numbers I used to cancel stuff:
Insurance (dial a cover): 01270-413000 ( ask for dial a cover)
Do ask for confirmation sent.
gaget helpline: 01373-839990
o2 web chat agent: to remove the web bolt on
server.lon.liveperson.net/hc/…t=1
According to the paper work I received, I cannot move to a lower priced calling plan in the first 9 months.

I bought the same phone from DAP for phone upfront cost of £19 two weeks back. You can save another £6 to OP's calculation by following below steps.
1. DO NOT INSERT YOUR NEW O2 SIM CARD IN THE PHONE. (nothing to panic but rather just to highlight)
2. Insert any other sim card you have with a data plan.
3. You will most probably configure your gmail account on start up of the phone and check if all works with the phone smoothly.
4. You will in the process configure your wireless network and let your phone tap into that network for more smooth operation.
5. Till the time you moved from step 3 to step 4, if you are like me mesmerized by the phone's awesomeness, you may either tend to forget to configure your Wireless network or may take a while. In this meantime your phone actually uses your mobile network's data package depending on how much you actually used up.
6. Imagine if this were your O2 new sim card then it would be quite difficult to get the £6 waiver in the 1st month itself.
If you have read all steps above and ensured that you didnt consume any data on O2 like I did then follow ahead.
Create your online O2 account for your sim card the moment the phone comes in and get onto to a live O2 agent explaining that you dont wish to use the web bolt on at all and would be glad if he/she could ensure it is dropped out of your account with immediate effect. The Live agent checks your data usage and if he/she finds none used, he/she gladly obliges and drops the price plan to £15.50 right on day 1 of your contract.
btw, I spoke to 2 live agents and confirm that you can drop one more price plan only after half of your contract term which is 12 months in this case!!!
damn, i keep forgetting
- the phone definitely comes unlocked.
- ensure that your provide your registered credit/debit card's address as delivery address and not work address as I did (they couldnt find my postcode in the middle of London and sent me the below mail)
Thank you for your recent order.
To progress with your order proofs are required from yourself.
We need one of the following below:
1. A pre-printed letter head, clearly showing the company name and address, with your reference number written on it.
2. A business card with the your name, company name and company address.
3. A pre-printed compliments slip, clearly showing the company name and address, with the your reference number written on it.
So good luck all you folks on your order!!!

Siri said "iphone S4"
Sent from my iPhone
Siri must be very confused since nowhere can you buy an iphone S4, never heard of it myself. Not a very reliable source to ask questions.
too much faffing about and its a 24month contract
give it a month and there'l be plenty of galaxy deals <£300
with less effort, and more text and mins
1) Guy who paid higher handset charge, call them up to cancel and ensure to state the reason is due to the higher handset cost. The Retention team (your "account manager") should be willing to sort this.
2)Tariff downgrades (Called Migration officially) is halfway through a contract and by 1 price point lower (the OP calculations seem fine). If this was a higher than minimum tariff there is a chance you could drop 2 price points depending on your ability to guilt trip and the network agent you speak to.
3) DAP will not give you more than 1 O2 contract every 6 months. O2 or another provider however shouldn't (as in, pretty sure they don't) have an issue with this.
4)You could email DAP for the weblinks for the Gadget Helpline and the Insurance. (Pretty sure the insurance is phone call only to cancel whereas the helpline can be done via the web)
5) There shouldn't be an issue cancelling the contract and paying the remaining line rental (if you chose to do so as this in the verbal legal script which is read by DAP agents and should be in the T & C's for the deal).
6)DAP phones will VERY LIKELY come unbranded (GSM handsets) and therefore should accept any SIM. They will never guarantee this to you. Ever. Just in case they had a branded batch etc....
7) They can deliver to a work address but as stated previously, they may require proof of work address.
I think that about covers the questions I saw......Any more anyone wants answered just hit me up and I'll answer.
Great phone. Great price. Patiently waiting for something with a Super Amoled+ HD screen though personally (and I'm only halfway through my contract....)
Phone arrived in Royal Mail Signed for Delivery around 10 am today am, and spoke to O2 on 202, requested the data be removed; confirmed that the data has been removed from today and the monthly payment be £15.50 ( and NOT 10.50 as I had entered earlier; my bad, I know big mistake, probably was excited and typed what I wanted as opposed to what they offered me in the first place, please don't tear me apart for this mistake) . Did not want to push and ask for anything else, so left it at that.
hope this re assures people who were in doubt after reading some of the comments, I was worried myself initially.
I had a read through the whole thread, and couldn't see it any where. It would be a good idea to add the contact no. for the cancellations in OP's initial thread, just my opinion.
Cancel the 500mb internet bolt on (£6/month)- call 202 from ur O2 mobile on Day 1 itself.
Cancel the gadget helpline - ring this no.
Cancel the phone insurance - ring this no.

iphone 4gs Vs galaxy s2 drop test
u just made urself look like bloody idiots by all thats comment " from iphone" there ... ask siri to watch that link above
Therefore on this it will be 12 months to downgrade.
The main networks offer this (Orange, Voda, O2). T-mobile won't let you downgrade till the last month of a contract.
FYI for the people who took the 200 mins, unltd texts and 500mb bonus tariff deal:
Normally bonus tariffs cannot be migrated down until the expiry of the contract. (This applies to certain Tariffs from Voda and Orange aswell)
If it turns out I'm incorrect on either of these points (which I highly doubt) then it is likely you got very lucky with whichever generous adviser you spoke to at O2 as the above should be there standard operating policies.
If any one needs a freephone number to speak to dialaphone in general it is 0800 0928244.

Yes, you can send it back under distance selling regulations (within 7 days). I'm sure if you call them and tell them they will refund you the difference.
No, Google Talk is instant messaging. Nothing to do with voice control.
Korean
White Galaxy S2 also on same deal.
9.99 + 21.50 + (15.50 x 11) + (10.50 x 12) - 50 = 278 pounds
You can get the HTC Sensation XE with this trick, it is 10 pounds cheaper as well.
I unlocked mine this week by following this guide and then using the sim unlock app
reviews.cnet.co.uk/mob…72/
Thanks for your help. Called Dial-a-phone they are doing a price match now Will get the 40 back soon. And phone is getting delivered today
This is a deal for a sim free S2. Buyers are recommended to get another sim card (with data) to use in their phone. Maybe a giff gaff payG/may monthly.

You will not be able to lower your tariff on the 200 mins / unlimited texts deal. Take a look at this pay monthly tariff chart on the O2 site and you will see that the "200 mins + unlimited texts" is classed as being some kind of special tariff for "selected phones only" and is already the lowest priced tariff in it's band. So there will be nothing lower to move onto if you choose that one.

"No matter how much effort we put into testing this thing, the fact remains that these 'sound profiles' are just EQ settings. You can achieve exactly the same effect using PowerAMP, which costs $5 and allows you create your own EQs. PowerAMP can tailor and save your EQs to suit current headphones and even to the track you're listening to, in order to get the sound just right. "
It does look like a very good phone though.
I disagree.
I have an ancient Blackberry (and more importantly a contract) provided by my employer. I have no need of a contract/sim so a deal like this is very good for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone...
Credit checking is 24 hours. Delivery is advised as 3-5 working days but is Royal Mail Special Delivery so can be faster, just covering ourselves.
Must admit though, I'm a bit curious as to why the contract pricings aren't at £21.50, £15.50 and £10.50 as all deals on the DAP website are quoted INCLUDING VAT......O2 shouldn't be charging you anymore than the £21.50 (or £15.50 w/out data) price (not sure if they can add VAT if you drop the tariff at the 12 month mark!))
Anyone who is surprised that your card details don't work if they aren't at your current/delivery address doesn't know how many fraudulent orders are placed with e-retailers on a daily basis.....
Definitely not another 24. Just the remaining 12 months cheaper.
I'm pretty sure I read a while back that you can downgrade your contract to 50 mins & 250 texts from month one and because you've downgraded early they charge you the difference between the two (£13pm) which would work out exactly the same as downgrading it to £10.50 after 12 months. But crucially takes the worry out of having to remember 12 months down the line.
can take up to 3 days to track it
