    I have the MBA/reference model and the performance is amazing. I’ve had a 6800xt (7900XT is 30% quicker) and a 3090 (7900XT is 15% quicker).

The reference gpu is happy on a 750w psu and notice my total system power sitting around 550w.

I use a single 1440p 180hz IPS (LG27GP850) screen which the vast majority of gamers use and don’t use VR (not sure what the attraction is here!).

I get 250fps at Call of Duty MW2 on ultra, 110FPS on Spider-Man with MAX raytracing, 110FPS on TLOU on ultra, 160fps on Horizon Zero Dawn on ultra. Around 150-180fps on Forza Horizon 5 on max settings. I’d say these are amazing results and exceed my monitors refresh rate on quite a few occasions.

It’s got quite a bit of potential left untapped which future driver updates will unleash making £700 quid seem a bargain if it matches a 4080 performance in a few months.

But to make it clear I’ve had no driver problems whatsoever- make sure you do a clean install of drivers (use DDU program).

Give AMD time and they’ll perfect the drivers like they did for RDNA2.

I would advise against RDNA2 as these cards aren’t the best at raytracing. The 7900xt is on par with a 3080 for raytracing. On straight up graphics grunt it is between a 4070ti and a 4080. Overclock it and you’ll gain 6-7% more performance almost touching a 4080 in terms of raw power.

Also the 7900XT can do AV1 encode and has AI cores which RDNA2 (6950xt etc) doesn’t. This will help productivity work streams.

I think FSR 2.0 and DLSS 2.0 is not widely dissimilar and don’t think this should be an issue.

FSR3.0 (frame gen) is due to be released which will boost frames even more.

I would easily think this is the better deal over a 4070ti for the raw performance and for 20GB vram which will future proof it somewhat.

4070ti owners might have to upgrade again in 2 years due to vram insufficiency as it’s only got 12gb.

I’m not intending to upgrade for another 4-5 years.

Make up your own minds and watch YT. Linus Tech Tips has gone for AMD this gen and is happy about it etc.

EDIT Sapphire PULSE 7900XT has superior cooling over the MBA and can hit a higher OC so you could potentially match a 4080 at rasterisation. (edited)

You're off the mark with some of these claims, but it is still an excellent card.

What’s happening with the AMD graphic cards….. they seems to be on a track on price drop across the range. No deals for a 4070ti (edited)

It's because Nvidia is selling every single wafer they can get out of TSMC at the moment. Ai companies are snapping up their big $40,000 compute units like the Grace superchip

So they're in no hurry to drop the price on these cards when they are selling fine and everything that rolls out the factory is directed towards the much more lucrative server and compute space.

AMD on the other hand released an overpriced card that was intended to be an upsell to their XTX model, I mean if you're going to spend 900 for the XT, why not another 100 and get the XTX. But now the 6000 cards are finally clearing out of inventory and the XT is dropping down to fill the place the 6900 used to occupy.

Basically AMD has an incentive to sell, while Nvidia is getting money thrown at them from every direction and don't need to do anything.

I just procured a 4070FE and am in two minds if that was a good deal compared to this. Then again, I didn't have to get a new PSU.

    You need a 750w psu for a 7900XT.

Vram is an advantage 20gb vs 12gb.

And about 25% more raw performance. (edited)

New drivers make it work better in VR now.

I have 7900 xtx sapphire nitro and I love it. This pulse has same high end pcb. Don't listen to people who are talking nonsense. Radeon drivers are at very least on par or better than nvidia's. E.g dpc latency issues on nvidia cards. You get more vram, VR issues has been fixed. You can do AI on rx 7000 on windows easily to generate images etc. This is really good price I would grab it instantly if I didn't have 7900 xtx already.

Must admit, I reckon I'd have probably bit at this price, if I hadn't got my power-hungry, room-heating, MSI RX 6950XT for silly money just over a fortnight ago.

    Maybe return it?.

Looking to purchase this..can anyone tell me if my psu will be able to run this or shall I upgrade? I have a corsair rm 650 and this is roughly my current set up (minus the gpu). I'm also probably going to undervolt the card

It should be good enough, helped by the fact you only have a 65W CPU.

You get Starfield premium with the card for free, which I think retails for £90. So technically you could say the offer is £610 if you were going to buy this version of the game.

Enjoy it. Everyone on the Overclockers forums are also finally caving in and purchasing a 7900XT pulse. It’s a Nitro without the RGB or full power limit enabled (the Pulse is the same as the reference card with 2X 8pin power sockets but with much better cooling) as the PCB is the same. So should last ages without a problem. I reckon 5 years unless something monumental occurs in gpu tech. (edited)

Purchased. Should overclock to around 7900 XTX stock performance.

It’s got great OC potential over the reference model. It’s the same PCB as the nitro.

Not as far as I can see. Overclockers is a well established Pc retailer in the UK. Very reputable and great customer service. Don’t worry.
