I take it the 480 & 90 is a massive jump in performance from the RX 7900 xtx?
I only really play a bit of Battlefield but the price for these cards are mental

If i did go for a 480 or 490 which model / brand is a good one (edited)

    No.
The 4070 is too pricey for what little it offers, the 6800xt would be my preference here.
The 4070ti is closely matched to the 7900xt, the AMD is a bit cheaper at the moment
The 4080 is closely matched to the 7900xtx, the AMD is a lot cheaper at the moment.
The 4090 has no real competitor in raw power, but is HUGEly expensive and HUGE in size, and will likely need a top tier, expensive CPU in order to justify its HUGE outlay. ( did i mention its HUGE)

check this guy out for comparisons.

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card as i am well out of spec and whats what!
what Is the Geforce equivalent to the this?
    Zaguer's avatar
In raw power you are looking at something between a 4080 and a 4090

Seems to me graphics card prices are treated the same as house prices...if you listened to everyone elses opinion, now is never the time to buy and there is always a better price six months from when you actually want to buy....
    Dannyboy80's avatar
Yeah, maybe, but I think the dramatic and very recent price rises are reasonably making buyers think twice and to be honest, more than a few of these new GPUs have the appearance of value but are probably likely poor longer term purchases.

I think many are waiting for a key midrange card via either a price drop or a new release.

Why would anyone buy this when you can get a 4080 for £70 more? (edited)
    Zaguer's avatar
If you are not planing on using RT then is £70 savings.

+ some of us are just very tired of nvidia

This is a decent price but be aware both AMD and Ndivia are expected to announce new GPUs as soon as later this month.

Might be best to hold off and see what's landing and if that moves the prices around. (edited)

That's going to be lower end stuff though isn't it?

Nothing that competes with this top end stuff.

I think it has to do something with affiliate links.

If only AMD hadn't been greedy and priced these aggressively when they came out...

I'm tempted but my PSU is 750W and reports of coil whine are a bit of a let down. If I were to go for an XTX I'd probably go for this or the Hellhound though.

Coil whine is been more widely reported in general now people have started to understand what it is. Every GPU has it just some a lot more than others. Motherboards are been widely reported currently lol.

How is this with content creation? Currently handling 4K footage on Premiere Pro with a 3090
    Zaguer's avatar
I believe nvidia is way better in content creation.
